A travel post wouldn't be a travel post if it didn't involve some intense discussion about food, so let's tick that off the list! It goes without saying that in cities that are known as popular tourist destinations, delicious food follows and in great quantities (not at all complaining). Let's just say that I definitely didn't turn a blind eye to the mass of food on offer and instead stopped for a well earned snack break every ten metres. From chocolate covered waffles topped with strawberries to generous heaps of caramel Häagen-Dazs ice cream smothered in one million and one various toppings, Bruges definitely spoils visitors for choice!
After you've visited the same area numerous times, you begin to find your 'go-to' places where you're guaranteed to have a good time as you know you love both the food and the ambience, and the quaint town of Bruges is no exception. Tea-room de Proeverie is my absolute favourite snack stop on my trips there, as along with adorable paintings on the walls of animals resembling old gentlemen in uniforms and such (is there anything cuter than animals in human clothing?), they also provide the tasiest food. Of course, I've included a photo of my delicious chocolate cupcake enjoyed at the tea rooms in this post for you to 'admire'!
Uh, and as much as I'd love to include a photo of the unbelievably yummy room service breakfast eaten at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, it was devoured within seconds of arrival! All the same, use your imagination and then somehow I have a feeling that we'll all be united when I say that enjoying your breakfast from the comfort of your own hotel room and curled up in an armchair whilst wrapped in a cosy dressing gown, is truly one of the greatest things in life. Really, it's close enough to being a fact!
Then of course, a travel post wouldn't be a travel post unless it included some bragging about the serious shopping done whilst away! I managed to (kind of) control myself on this trip, but one particular piece that caught my eye and dragged me into the changing rooms was a really cute, well fitting and flattering green dress from L&L. With the price tag of just fifty euros, I had decided within moments to wear it on my upcoming 21st birthday and I'll definitely be returning to the Bruges chain whenever I next find myself there! As a sidenote, living in the UK means that I've never come across this store before, so let me know if you're located near an L&L and what your personal views are on the brand?!
Dille & Kamille is another of my favourite stores found down one of the many winding streets of Bruges, as along with a fresh and zesty shop front, they also offer really high quality home products at fantastic prices! Whilst visiting the store last month, I picked up a couple of plant pots for indoor use in my bedroom to sit happily next to my white IKEA bargain plant pot.
I also bought a modern kitchen accessory for my mum as a small memento of yet another of our 'girls trips' abroad! Honestly, I have so much fun with her on our short city breaks that even looking back over these photos puts a massive smile on my face! Oh and she doesn't even mind (or at least doesn't vocalise) about me taking one million photos of our surroundings and then retaking them ten times over until they're perfect in my eyes!
Consider this the last of my Short City Break ramblings (at least until the next adventure)! Whilst I'm sat here daydreaming of the perfect scrambled eggs served by Crowne Plaza and strolling through the cobbled streets of Bruges, I hope you're all busy planning and packing for your upcoming trips!
