Well, after a lot of hoping, wishing and more than my fair share of moaning.. I woke up this morning to see my area covered in a blanket of snow! How beautiful! After hurriedly eating my breakfast, I grabbed my camera and headed out into my garden to capture the beauty before it melted. To my surprise, the snow stayed put for at least a few hours and absolutely nothing has been able to spoil my good mood today ever since (that's not a challenge!).
Over the past month or so, I've seen beautiful snow scenes from around the world on some of my favourite blogs and so after a particularly mild British winter this year, I'm so excited to finally be immersed in a 'true' winter. The only downside with a temperature hovering at 1°C has been the inability to leave the house without wearing ski socks, thermals and every other extra layer you can think of!
Interestingly enough, I realised whilst looking through old photos on my laptop that I have been taking photos of the swing set in my garden (partially shown below) every winter for six consecutive years! Not only has it been fun to see how my photography has improved over that time, but it's been fun reminiscing about previous heavy snowfall..
I hope you're all enjoying equally beautifully snowfall in your area - that is, if you want it!
With love,
Gabrielle x

Awww, lucky you and your photography is stunning here! I wish we have more snow but other than one evening which snowed a little, I haven't seen any since. But it's also the reason why hubby decided to move here so this Malaysian girl won't freeze.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful snow photography with us Gaby! The world around us looks so enchanting when covered in snow and I love the tranquility and piece it brings. In Germany, it has been snowing for a while, on and off. It is very cold (last night minus 10) and I wish we would have some heavy snowfall so I can get the sleigh out again. I wouldn't mind the lake behind the house to freeze to take my skates out. Or a winter stroll through the woods....Can't wait to see the snow tomorrow in the UK when I'm back for the weekend. Speak soon lovely xxx

You have captured your long awaited snowfall so well in these gorgeous photos. I know that many areas of the UK have had snow but we have only had a few snowflakes which have disappeared in minutes! Yet there has been a considerable amaount just a fifteen minute drive from home. I love to admire snowy scenes but as we live down a narrow lane we do struggle if the snow sticks and one year it was impossible to drive to the main road so mixed feelings about snow!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so good to hear, I certainly have been waiting for long enough haha. I hope that you experience heavier snowfall at some point soon, although not if it makes getting to and from your house very difficult!
DeleteGabrielle x
Wow! Beautiful photos. We just got over a foot of snow at the beginning of the week so this sight is very familiar (and not unwelcome).

Gaby these photos are so amazing, u've got some serious skills of photography going on there xx The garden looks so beautiful being covered in snow, tho I think it must be freezing in the North rite now haha Wish there was some heavy snow like this down in Birmingham, cause we're still having the sun shining everyday and I bet everybody down here, myself included, would be chuffed to see a great snow fall this time, it'd be amazing just like Christmas again hahah xx Hope u'll have an amazing day 2mr, my lovely xx

Dear Gaby! The pictures are super beautiful and you got me here dreaming about a snowy morning, a delicious breakfast and a super hot latte. I can certainly have the breakfast and the latte but will need to travel up north to see snow. Unfortunately it doesn't snow here in Orlando, FL. It gets chilly but nothing lower than maybe 40 degrees. I used to live near New York when I was younger and I still remember those snowy days.... especially when they happened on the weekend when I didn't have to go to work. I would get up, stay on my PJs, cuddle up on my sofa and look through the window all day long. I am glad you got to enjoy a snowy morning. The pictures turned out great. I can sense the passion behind each one them. Thanks for sharing. XOXO, Jeannette
ReplyDeletewww.msjeannieandhercloset.com
The picture you've painted sounds utterly idyllic - pass me one of those tasty sounding breakfasts! Orlando is such a wonderful area and so although it must be a pity about the snow, at least you have all of that beautiful sunshine to enjoy! The snowy weekends you spent indoors looking out at the snow sounds really nice, Jeannette, what lovely memories :)

What I'd give for snow! We've had a pretty cool summer ourselves actually though the next week it's heating back up to 35 degrees and I am not happy about that. Sigh. Especially after seeing your photos now. Bury your face in the fluffy stuff for me would you?!

My fingers are crossed for you, Sonia! 35 degrees sounds incredible and something I can't even remember experiencing here in the UK for at least a few years.. although you can definitely have too much of a good thing, so I'll be sure to bury my face in the snow the next time it falls!
