Clarins Skincare Routine

Clarins Skincare Products
I should start by holding my hands up and admitting to have never had a proper skincare routine until recently.  It was only through blogging and stumbling across various jokes comparing face-wipes to other deathly and abrasive objects that it dawned on me I really wasn't taking care of my skin.  Ironically, I've always been meticulous when it comes to body products, however unfortunately my face has never received the same level of care - until now!  Well actually, until about two months ago (February 26th, to be exact), at which point I approached a Clarins Specialist and rather naively asked her for some help..

Clarins Skincare ProductsAs you can tell from the shoddy lighting, visibly cold hand and dark green nail varnish in this post, these photos were taken back in February, however there seemed little reason in reviewing skincare products when I haven't tried them properly for myself!  So, two months on and how do I feel about these products?  Thrilled.  Seriously, absolutely no less than thrilled.  You could of course argue that it wouldn't be difficult to be thrilled when you're leaping from the absolute lowest level of skincare to Clarins products, however I like to think I'm sensible enough to measure the results accordingly.  One thing is for certain, if you don't have a skincare regime in place, this is a fantastic starting point that is guaranteed to take away a lot of the guilt you're undoubtedly harbouring!

(normal to combination skin)

Clarins Skincare Products
Although I'm currently on a course of antibiotics to help me out with a hormonal chin breakout (ugh, aren't they the worst?!), it was explained to me by the Clarins specialist that the odd blemish here and there on my forehead and nose could be a thing of the past and sure enough, they now are!  In fact, those pesky blemishes here and there disappeared after just a couple of weeks of using these products and have failed to return.  The Water Purify One-Step Cleanser  claims to leave skin looking radiant and feeling revived and I can confirm they're telling the truth.  Two months in and the bottle has about 1/5 remaining, which isn't at all bad value for money - though I would recommend dampening your applicator/cotton wool pad before adding the cleanser as it helps to stretch the product that little bit further.  This cleanser can't be used on the eyes by the way, so a separate eye makeup remover would be needed (as with most cleansers).

Clarins Skincare Products

Clarins Skincare Products
The HydraQuench Lotion SPF 15 has to be the most delicious smelling product of all time, which makes applying it morning and night (along with the cleanser) that little bit more enjoyable.  Again, similar to the cleanser, this lotion is lasting really well and the tiny amount needed per use can be thanked for that - as photographed below. A couple of interesting facts about the lotion is that not only does it protect the skin from UV damage, it also contains extracts of pomegranate and Alpine willow herb.  Oh and sure, it may not be the most important thing when looking at a skincare product, but has anyone else noticed how chic the HydraQuench Lotion packaging is?

Whilst I was there, I also took the opportunity to take away a couple of samples of the Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream to see how it fared against my sensitive skin.  After about three weeks, I decided on purchasing the full-sized version, however I have only been using the cream on the upper half of my T-Zone twice a week and so the samples are still serving me well for now!

Clarins HydraQuench Lotion Skincare

Needless to say, I'm really impressed by these products and feel very much as though I've struck gold considering this was my first (intensive) exploration into facial skincare products!  It shouldn't have come as a surprise really bearing in mind how impressed I've been in the past with their body products (hello Moisture-Rich Body Lotion!).  Anyway, before I skip away clutching all of my new skincare babies close to my chest, allow me to apologise to all of the beauty bloggers out there who had to read that until the age of 21, my poor face didn't have a skincare regime.

With love,

Gabrielle x

I'm glad that you found a skincare regime that works well for you. These items look and sound wonderful. Essential oils is something that I grew up using, so I am a huge fan of that. 63. not to worry, it took me until i was about 24 (two years ago) to discover beauty blogs and the wonderful world of skincare, and once i got really into it i couldn't believe i had spent so long neglecting my skin! but at least we're on the right track now, and clarins is a great place to start - i've always trusted their skincare and my mum has used them for years. :)

  65. I'm guilty of not having a proper skincare regimen as well, and I'm looking for products to start out with. These look really good!

    1. Their products are probably on the higher-end of the scale with regard to prices, however they're most definitely worth it! :)
