Blue Hues at Hatchlands Park

Hilariously, the temperature has dropped to 8°C and brought a lot of rain with it, however that wasn't the case yesterday.  Thankfully, I visited the beautiful Hatchlands Park when the sun was shining and jackets weren't needed.  After waiting for my camera to charge (and playing the piano in the meantime until my fingers dropped off), I persuaded a family member to accompany me to the National Trust location in the hope of seeing something both rare and highly coveted.. bluebell woods!

Although Hatchlands Park is well-known for its house and it's many purposes over the years (once even a finishing school for girls), visitors are also able to access the parkland and kitchen café all year round. Incredibly, there are four hundred acres of 'rolling parkland and ancient woodland', however we had just three hours and so we immediately began following signs and hunting down the bluebells!
Anybody else love crooked signs?

After a twenty minute walk across rolling green hills and through various wooden gates, we reached the Bluebell Wood.  It was just as incredible as I was hoping it would be.  What stood out most was how bluebells could be seen in the distance, as far as the eye could see.  I find that when something has really captured my attention, I forget about everything and anyone else - with this in mind, I'd say the Bluebell Wood at Hatchlands Park really, really impressed me.  I'm just surprised I didn't see a fairy or something equally majestic (and uh, fictional) appear from behind a bluebell..

Upon arrival, there were quite a lot of people around, however as we spent some time winding through the marked path they seemed to disappear.  Now I love crowds as much as the next person, however when a setting is as beautiful as this, some silence and tranquility is always appreciated.

It wasn't until I started blogging that I noticed a pattern emerging;  I don't seem to visit anywhere without indulging in a slice of cake.  Although, I suppose there's worse habits to keep and especially when toffee cake is made available.  From the bluebells to the friendly staff and from the weather to the toffee cake, Hatchlands Park was perfect, which doesn't come as a surprise considering it falls under the umbrella of The National Trust!

If you're considering visiting Hatchlands Park, it is just forty-five minutes from central London - to give you an idea of location.

With love,

Gabrielle x

  86. I just LOVE this post! And I love the new look to your blog! I've been out of the blogging world for some time as I've had to focus on school, but I'm back and excited to catch up on everything I have missed! I need to find neat places like this here in the states that I can visit because this location is just beautiful (as are you!)
Be sure to stop by and say hello!
