Midnight Blue by aglassofice
It seems one million times easier to incorporate trends into the wardrobe than the home, which isn't really surprising considering the size difference (unless of course you're Carrie Bradshaw or Mariah Carey and have a wardrobe the size of a small castle). Having said that, there are home design trends that don't require enormous effort and for 2015, the perfect example of this is the explosion of blue accent colours. Personally, I tend to gravitate towards cream, beige and gold tones, however I'm certainly not opposed to throwing around a navy blue cushion or two in appreciation of the trend!
Eugene Small Pendant in Antique Brass - In my opinion, brass fittings are the perfect way of adding warmth to an otherwise 'cool' path laid out by the blue accent colours
Debora Stewart Essentia Acrylic Painting - This is such a fun and playful way of experimenting with the trend without immersing yourself in the colour. I'm actually looking for an identical piece to this in cream and gold for my bedroom - perhaps I'm finally close to finding my 'dream piece'!
L'Objet Lapis Large Vase - Crafted from cobalt blue Limoges porcelain with 24k gold accents, this beautiful vase is probably my favourite feature from this set
Patent Leather Cobalt Book - With regard to the home design trend, a set of five cobalt blue patent books is as hard-hitting as it comes - ten points for filling the brief!
Montegrappa Fortuna Blue and Rose Gold Ballpoint Pen - If you're anything like me, this pen will be giving you heart palpitations right now. The design is elegant, the combination of blue and rose gold is on trend and best of all, it's very reasonably priced
Pottery Barn 'Be You' Framed Print - The award for 'loudest statement and lowest cost' goes to this inkjet printed poster (12.25'' wide x 18.25'' high x 1.25'' thick)
Smythson ''Blah Blah Blah...'' Panama Notebook - As most bloggers will agree, Smythson's grained lambskin notebooks are pretty much the pinnacle of 'attractive' stationery, however I would say this cobalt blue version takes home first place (joint with 'Make It Happen')
Dot & Bo Turquoise Glazed Vases - These certainly aren't the electric, striking midnight blue that is getting all of the attention right now, however similar to the Eugene antique brass pedants, they offer light relief in a sea of blue..
Crate & Barrel Matte Indigo Pillar Candle (3'' x 6'') - Say hello to the prettiest colour and even prettier price - I'll take ten!
Fearne Cotton Melrose 3-seater Sofa - It's not midnight blue, deep navy or even indigo blue, but it's trying really, really hard and so it gets seven points from me just for effort!
Dot & Bo Laken Nesting Tables (Set of 2) - Unsurprisingly, another striking feature from Dot & Bo in this set. With metal bases offering two different shades of blue and contrasting wooden legs, these nesting tables are a fantastic way of bringing the on-trend accent colour into the home
With love,
Gabrielle x

The acrylic painting is so interesting and beautiful (I'd love it in gold for my wall!) and thanks for sharing your thoughts on this post! :)

Ok wow, that blue couch is such a statement piece. That would be so incredible in an otherwise all white room, with some light grey accents. Adore!!!

I'm so glad you love it too - it's so striking! Your styling suggestion is fabulous, I can imagine that looking amazing :)

Ahhhhh! I love everything that you've featured - blue is a great colour but I wouldn't have my sofa that colour but would definitely use accessories around the house!!
ReplyDeleteComing back to the blue sofa, it would look great in an all white room - maybe a holiday home….hahaha!
Gorgeous pieces though! :)

I'm with you there, although I find this sofa ridiculously beautiful, I would always opt for browns and creams for large pieces of furniture. Accent colours though.. yes! Blue! :)

That large vase is so pretty and I could actually picture it looking pretty in our home, great choices here, Gabrielle!

Completely agree with that! You're right, it does look comfortable.. and there's no point in a stylish sofa that isn't comfy! ;)

Hi!! I love a great inspiring mood board! I actually love this color in small amounts and details like a beautiful deep blue candle or abstract painting! And if you pair it with a warm copper or gold it turns into the most elegant combo I believe! ;)

I agree blue is a great accent color especially a navy throw to liven up the room! Also I love the combo of teal and midnight blue, something so mysterious and alluring about that color combo! :) xo~ Lena
ReplyDeletewww.felinecreatures.com
You've got me there Lena, I adore throws (especially in soft textures)! That's a great way of describing the colour combination by the way! :)

Love your choices! This shade of blue is just so beautiful and elegant, it would make any room look amazing :) xx
ReplyDeletewww.tongue-in-chic.com
Thanks Naeun, there certainly are some elegant pairings for the colour available!
DeleteGabrielle x
I'm also a huge fan of cream, gold, and beige when it comes to interior design. I totally love the idea of throwing an accent colour in there, whether it be yellow, blue, or green. Light colours have been a huge trend, although I never use to gravitate towards them, but now I really love them much more as they really brighten up a space - it's so much more fresh!! My boyfriend and I are just renovating our place and I'm still trying to decide on an accent colour to incorporate into our living room and I really love the idea of adding blue! These Eugene Small Pendant, Antique brass lights are so cool!! Thanks so much for the decor inspiration xoxo
ReplyDeletewww.wunderbliss.blogspot.ca
It's great to know someone else is the same way, creams paired with golds can be so soothing! That's a great point, accent colours are a fantastic way of brightening up a space in tune with a new season :)

I don't have a home to decorate, but this post would be really wonderful if I did. I always think about changing styles - how much money it costs to change your wardrobe (a lot) compared with how much money it costs to change the style of your home (even more). I'm sure useful DIYs would come in handy there. :)

That blue is absolutely gorgeous! I love that couch. My aunt had a headboard a little lighter than that blue and it was gorgeous. Very movie star!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.averysweetblog.com/
A blue headboard is a great idea, particularly if the bedding featured flecks/pattern of gold!
DeleteGabrielle x
I totally agree-- it's so much easier to incorporate trends in clothing. I love having plain white furniture all over the house, but I love adding little subtle hints of color throughout. I'm gonna have to try this blue and gold trend.

I am also a huge fan of the midnight blue accent color! Always a good choice. I am currently traveling in Thailand, and was slightly scammed today during a tour today. I say slightly, because they took us to all of our promised locations but then randomly finished the tour at a gem stone factory. It felt like we were being pushed a time share program or something but anyways, my point is, the gem stone factory had several stunning sapphires! Just reminded me of this post :)
