All photos taken from the Thornbury Castle website |
'Yeah, castles are always a lot of fun to stay in', I thought to myself. It was only after a good ten minutes of browsing the Thornbury Castle Hotel website that it dawned on me.. I've never stayed in a castle. Oh, the shame. I must have been mistaking the mass of historical dramas I indulge in for personal experiences. Oh, the further shame.

This new addition to my Hotel Wishlist series is a Tudor castle located on the edge of the Cotswolds. Naturally, I'm drawn to contemporary, stylish and minimalistic hotels, however just occasionally, it can feel like a breath of fresh air to stay somewhere that oozes character, as well as something a little more unusual. The Thornbury Castle Hotel seems to offer character in bucket-loads, although it would be difficult not to considering the hotel boasts five-hundred-year-old architecture! The hotel itself claims to 'be steeped in history, surrounded by unspoiled grounds and abutting the lovely landscape of the Cotswolds'. I won't lie, I've been charmed - and not only by the delicious chocolate fondant pudding I found on their website.

I hope you've enjoyed this new addition to my Hotel Wishlist series, if you'd like to explore some equally luxurious hotels, take a look at my most recent write-ups here, here and here!
With love,
Gabrielle x
i'd like to spend there some time... it must so expensive but i think is worth, interiors looks amazing like from fairy tale...

Oh wow, that hotel is gorgeous! I think a night in there would instantly transport me back into medieval time. The funny thing is, even though I love the look and vibe of this hotel, I probably wouldn't stay in it. Call me stupid but every time I think of castle, I associate it with being haunted. LOL! Silly but it's the way I feel.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
That doesn't sound stupid at all, my brother is the same way - it's a case of different strokes for different folks, I suppose! :)
DeleteGabrielle x
The hotel is archaic with a regal flair! I've always wanted to live in a castle and this is somewhere that I'm adding to my bucket list! Not to mention the food looks absolutely scrumptious! Thanks for the share Gabrielle! :) xo~ Lena
ReplyDeletewww.felinecreatures.com
It's the regal flair that makes this hotel so dreamy to look at! Haha I don't know if you'll ever get to live in one Lena, however I really hope you stay in one soon! :)
DeleteGabrielle x
Wow, that's very impressive! The Hotel is absolutely beautiful! Have you seen that bed? Fantastic! I love everything about this Castle! Hope I can stay there someday! Thanks for sharing! xx

I never knew there were castles converted to hotels! This is GORGEOUS Gabrielle! The grandeur of it! Just the thought of it once being utilized as a castle and to be converted to such lovely modern loveliness. I'm smitten.

Neither did I until fairly recently! I'm so pleased you love this concept as much as I do Kim! :)
DeleteGabrielle x
What a place! I've never stayed at a castle either, but I could easily imagine staying there (yes, thanks to all the tv series):)Though I'm not sure I would dare to stay there alone, because those old castles usually come with a ghost or two, don't they? :)
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope not or else I intend to stay well away as well haha! Thankfully, I've no doubt this place is booked well and packed with hundreds of people though, meaning you'd never need to be alone :)
DeleteGabrielle x

ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND
You're very welcome lovely, thanks for stopping by!

Wow, gorgeous! I've never stayed in a castle and would love to in the future. When I was in Germany visiting, we toured the beautiful Neuschwanstein castle. As a kid my parents use to have a calendar with a photo of this particular one and I just remember looking at it all the time, hoping one day I would be able to see it in person. And voila! Lovely post xoxo
ReplyDeletewww.wunderbliss.blogspot.ca
I believe I've visited that castle as well about three or four years ago, it was simply spectacular! There's something magical about castles and so the concept of staying in one would be, well, thrilling :)

A Tudor Caste?! This looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteSilly Medley: Lifestyle and Travel
I know, right?! It's so appealing!

I love this wish list series so much Gabrielle! It's such a fantastic idea and really makes me want to stay in a castle now. The only time I have previously stayed in a castle was in Germany, but the inside had been converted into a hostel, so it doesn't count! On my wish list now!
