I'm all for products that promote relaxation, whether they be candles, bath oils or reed diffusers.. if the product is on board for inducing tranquility, so am I! One thing, however, that hadn't occurred to me until very recently was that the same level of relaxation could be directed to the face. I've been aware of Decléor for a few years now and so when I came across their luxurious Aromessence Rose d'Orient Night Balm, I figured it was time to begin my love affair with the aromatherapy skincare brand!
I knew I wanted a product that would do some good whilst I was sleeping so I could wake up knowing I'd done something more with those eight hours than dream about Swiss cuisine. Knowing I'd most likely return home uncertain of how to go about using the product (I'm ashamed to say that has happened before), I asked the specialist to jot down some basic instructions. As you can see, application is incredibly simple, although really no incentive was needed for me to start using the 100% natural night balm thanks to the incredible floral fragrance. This is undoubtedly the nicest smelling skincare product I've ever come across and don't even get me started on the classic, chic presentation/packaging. Anyone else adore glass containers for skincare products?
I opted for this particular balm due to it's kindness towards sensitive and reactive skin types (hands up!), along with how active ingredients include 'calming Neroli and Rose essential oils, Almond to protect against external irritations, Rice Wax to protect and improve skin structure and Beeswax to soften skin'.
Although I initially started using the Aromessence Rose d'Orient Night Balm (15ml) as per the instructions, I soon decided to only apply it to one specific area of my face - the areas around the nose where my skin is at it's driest and most red in appearance. Decléor claim their aromatic night-time treatment 'softens, smooths and relaxes the skin and senses' and after a couple of weeks of using it, I can't argue with that! My skin feel noticeably smoother, the process of massaging the balm in (after using the tiny spatula) is surprisingly enjoyable and the smell goes a long way in relaxing you just as it's time to slide into bed.
Now, although I'm on board with most of the claims made by Decléor with regard to the luxurious night balm, I can't vouch for it guaranteeing calmer skin after your beauty sleep. I had hoped it would go some way in reducing the appearance of redness around my nose, however there's been no change on that front. Though I should note, I've only been using the night balm for two weeks now and so it could well be an issue to do with time, rather than quality.
So, overall the Aromessence Rose d'Orient Night Balm has certainly impressed me and has been a pleasure to incorporate into my skincare regime. Although I may not be able to vouch for it's ability to reduce redness (ie. calm), makeup application has been five times easier thanks to the smoothed and relaxed skin around my nose and my skin by moonlight has never been so fragrant!
Let me know if you're a fan of Decléor and whether you have your eye on any of their products at the moment!
