Champneys: Scrubs and Butters

Champneys Spa ProductsScroll down my blog's archive all the way back to April and you'll find travel diaries from my spa break at Champneys Henlow (part one, two and three).  Now, I'm not one to think too intensely about the past, but I've been sat here for a good two or three minutes re-calculating the weeks since April because, well.. that spa break cannot have been three months ago!  I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the stack of spa products I'd brought home with me that have remained unopened since.  This situation very much reminds me of my younger self - the one that left suitcases zipped up and entirely untouched after returning from a holiday.  Guilty as charged.  Nevertheless, the (huge) positive of this is that you get to experience the excitement all over again!  In this instance, it means slathering myself in Champneys spa products and marvelling at their luxurious smells.

Inhale... and exhale.

The most exciting product out of my Champneys skincare stash is undoubtedly the Citrus Blush Body Scrub.  I've been using the shower gel from the Citrus Blush range for quite some time and have found it to be really refreshing due to the strong citrus smell, so I had high hopes for the body scrub.  Well, a couple of uses later and I'm over the moon with how brilliant this scrub is!  As with any body scrubs, it was far more effective when rubbed into damp skin, as opposed to wet.  The smell is consistent with that of the shower gel (cardamom and lemon) and very much lives up to it's claim of 'leaving skin feeling smooth and moisturised'.

Okay, onto the body butters!  I opted for the Citrus Blush Body Butter to complement the body scrub, along with the Skin Comforting Body Butter in a bid to show I can still be adventurous - I'm not entirely a creature of habit (yet).  Needless to say, the scents of both body butters are divine, although if we had to put it to a vote, Citrus Blush would win due to it's fresh smell that perfectly matches the season.  However, with regard to leaving skin feeling 'soft and supple', the Skin Comforting Body Butter glides into first place and stays there.

An area we all often think of when someone says 'dry skin' is the backs of the arms and so I put the body butters to the test.  For the past few days, I've been applying each body butter to one arm only ready to compare the results.  Fast forward to the present and although both arms are now much, much smoother.. the Skin Comforting Body Butter has proved to be marginally more effective.

So, other than a nagging feeling of regret for having abandoned these spa products for so long, I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself.  My appreciation for the Citrus Blush range continues and I don't think my skin has ever smelt so good.. which makes it a shame I'm about to walk through clouds of BBQ smoke!

With love,

Gabrielle x
