Jones Bootmaker Gondor Loafers

Special occasion? Heels.  Not a special occasion?  Heels.  I don't remember exactly when it was I abandoned flat shoes, however it's become apparent I don't seem to go anywhere without throwing my ankles up in the air a few inches. Admittedly, this would perhaps make more sense if I wasn't already a little over 5'9'', where zipping up a pair of heeled ankle boots starts the game of seeing how many people can reach my shoulders!  It dawned on me recently that it's not the height that attracts me to heels but rather the shape.  I love the way they make you both feel and look, something about them says 'you can handle yourself' - a vibe that I only get from one style of flat shoes, the pointed flat.  Needless to say that with this revelation, it was lovely to hear from Jones Bootmaker about receiving the Gondor Loafers c/o to style!

Although the Gondor Loafers are also available in burgundy, I opted for the classic black version purely due to their versatility.  I love how they can be incorporated into a dark casual outfit, as well as a brighter, smarter look.  You may have noticed from my blog by now that although I love throw-on t-shirts and relaxed maxis, on a regular basis I tend to lean towards the more 'buttoned up' side of styling.  Oh and ten points to anyone who recognised this gingham shirt as the blue alternative to the pink version I blogged about late last month!

Jones Bootmaker Gondor Loafers
I was surprised by how refreshing it felt to walk in flats again.  Obviously all of my workouts are done in trainers, however that aside this was quite the experience!  It's hilarious, but true.  My belief of pointed flats feeling as elegant as a pair of stiletto heels was well and truly confirmed and the cropped trousers went some way in convincing me.  I won't mention the old Victorian sexualisation of ankles (oops), but to some extent, I get it.
Jones Bootmaker Gondor Loafers

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these loafers, as well as how you personally prefer to style pointed flats!  Right, on that note, I'm going to glide away in my suede and patent shoes and cringe at how I mentioned the historic sexualisation of ankles..

With love,

Gabrielle x

  12. It's like you read my mind or something. I adore wearing heels because they make me feel dressed up and not because I want to look taller. However, there is one model of flats I like and that is the pointy shape. So, I totally get what you mean.

I really like how you put this look together. That shirt is fabulous, the pants are a great fit and those loaders are really divine. Wonderfully stylish combo!!!!

  17. Haha, you're so funny. I was chuckling reading your Victorian reference. But, so true, I adore loafers and flats in some cases, especially for a great trouser or work look, when I want to be casual, yet still have elegance--as you've shown us here. I only have a few pointed flats, but have mostly rounded styles. Lovely outfit Gabrielle. Have a great weekend. x/Madison

  80. aaaaahhhh Gabrielle,

This is one nice pair of flats. Like you, I love the fact that it is pointed, it sort of gives you the feeling you are wearing heels (minus the height, sometimes can be a pain *_^). I might have gone for the Burgundy one though just simply I love the colour, haha!

When it comes to flats, I tend to go for rounded shape for the front instead of pointed ones as I have wider frontal foot area, I find pointed ones give me a little discomfort, especially if that portion of the shoe is hard.

I wonder how is the material and is it comfortable in them? But I guess is most definitely more comfortable then heels.

Where is this place?? Really beautiful. I am curious *_^

    1. I've got to admit, I adore wearing heels.. though these are a welcome change - I've never loved a pair of flats so much! I understand where you're coming from, I had a friend who's feet would cramp in anything other than rounded-toe flats. This pair is incredibly comfortable, though that would depend entirely on the person wearing them ('try before you buy')|! :)
