Hotel Wishlist: Le Grand Bellevue Gstaad, Switzerland

Note: ALL of these photos have been taken from the Le Grand Bellevue Website
Ta-dah!  We're at the ninth instalment now of my Hotel Wishlist series; a compilation of various luxurious hotels around the world that have caught my eye and have consequently made it onto my 'visit' list!  The latest addition is the incredibly beautiful Le Grand Bellevue, a hotel located in Gstaad, an upscale resort town in the Swiss Alps.  With colder weather on the way and talk of Christmas creeping into the shops and onto the radio, it seemed appropriate to introduce somewhere a little chillier (and more adapted to the winter scene) to my Hotel Wishlist series!

I've mentioned my appreciation of Switzerland once or twice on A Glass Of Ice, though consider this a confession of my adoration for the country.  I've visited many times, staying in the Grindelwald/Interlaken area and have each time found myself falling deeper in love with my surroundings.  When I hear visitors mentioning how they 'feel at home' in England I can completely understand, because I feel the same way when in Switzerland - it's like the warm embrace of a family member after not seeing them for a while.  It could be due to the mountains, the food, the unusual architecture... all I know is that I'm keen to explore more, particularly the Swiss Alps!  Gstaad is at the top of my list, a resort town based about an hour and a half away (East) from Grindelwald - home to this beautiful early 20th-century hotel.

The contemporary and stylish interior design of the hotel, particularly of the bedrooms, is what initially drew me in.  With an Art-Deco bar, Michelin-starred restaurant and dreamy spa, Le grand Bellevue is a guaranteed pleasant hideaway in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps.  If I had to say what was the most special aspect of staying anywhere in Switzerland, it'd be that on most occasions you can guarantee comfortable and modern surroundings in pristine condition, whilst looking out of the window at mountains.  The contrast between old and new can be astonishingly beautiful.

I'm still struggling to determine the deciding factor for my love of Switzerland and more importantly, Swiss hotels.  With hotels like Le Grand Bellevue existing, however, I feel less obliged to figure out why I love Swiss hotels and more concerned with how I love them.  Let me know your thoughts on this hotel below and whether you feel the same way about any particular country as I do Switzerland!

Le Grand Bellevue,
Hauptstrasse,
Gstaad,
CH 3780
Switzerland

With love,

Gabrielle x

  30. This hotel is a dream! You always find the most amazing hotels. I always said that I couldn't imagine spending vacation in a hotel, but with years I'm changing...now a stay in a nice hotel is all I want!:) Funny how we change right. I'm in need for some pampering!

Splendid photographs, the decor in this hotel is truly inspiring! For some reason this hotel makes me think of Bosnia, where the climate is more continental as opposed to warm climate in Herzegovina. I just got a sudden desire to spend a weekend in Bosnian region and I will try to make my husband take me there before the first snows...I even have an excuse as there are some good furniture deals to be found there( a few good manifactures there) and at the moment we're checking the market for it.

    2. I will:)....we have friends who own a hotel there and they've been inviting us to come and stay there for years.
