A Windy Day

Autumn Zara Quilted Parka BlogHot chocolate, cosy jumpers and the increasing excitement of approaching the festive season.  Oh yeah, it's all fun and games until you remember that along with those frosty mornings and crisp evenings.. comes the biting winds.  Here in the UK, they sort of go hand in hand.  I've been so wrapped up in thoughts of berry lipsticks and cinnamon-scented candles, that I entirely forgot about the inevitable change in the weather!  Of course I realised the temperature was dropping, though somehow I failed to remember how it feels to have your hair blown all over the place until you're left clawing at your face in a bid to recover your vision.  Mm.  The wind caught me off guard today as I was out enjoying an Autumnal stroll, though next time I'll come prepared with a hair tie - or two!

Zara Quilted Parka 2015
In fear of sounding awfully British, the weather has been on my mind lately.  Irritation at not being able to wear lipgloss for a few months aside, I've been putting together my Autumn/Winter wardrobe!  All wind-protectors must be mine and I need mittens goddammit, mittens!  Seriously though, I've come to really enjoy shopping for the colder seasons as they require frequent trips to Zara to check out their regularly updated collections.  More than anything, I adore their coats and jackets - which is where this Quilted Parka comes on the scene.  One of my various outerwear purchases of late is this warm navy blue coat with faux fur hood...

Autumn Leaves Britain England
Zara Quilted Parka 2015 Review
At this time of year, many outfits go hours without seeing the light of day, it's all about the outerwear.  With this in mind, I've been expanding my collection of warm but stylish coats/jackets to avoid looking as though I exist in one outfit alone for the best part of half a year; and you won't catch me complaining about needing to do so!  I adore the contrasting bright orange lining of this jacket, as well as the flattering length - I've figured out now that the only way to remain warm come the temperature drop is to keep your hips and upper-thighs covered.  Done and done!

Well I had to include an outtake!
All in all, I entirely forgive the troublesome winds - after all, they provide the perfect excuse to head out and track down more jacket/coats to fill our wardrobes with.  Autumn winds that are determined to destroy both my hair and makeup - you can stay put!

With love,

  6. I should perhaps move to the UK for the sake of finding a reason to fill my wardrobe with coats and jackets. They are completely useless in equatorial weather though I seem to have an unfortunate obsession with them, ah. Wind and long hair don't completely go well together but they do make for some pretty dramatic photos. You look lovely Gabrielle!

Though hair blowing about it pretty annoying, worst yet with painted lips. I'd suggest a transition into matte, but somehow they get caught there too. Could be a "Sonia" thing however.

  87. Nice one as usual Gabrielle! I didn't know Zara had such lovely coats (I usually skip Zara for winter coats, but this is now definitely going to change). Thanks for sharing and I hope you're well xx

  88. Oh it's so complicated to combine lipstick/lipgloss and wind, 99% cases you end of with hair stuck on your lips XD
I love your look, you're always so chic! This jacket seems really warm, I love the length
