Hotel Wishlist: Castlemartyr Resort, Ireland

NOTE: All photos have been taken from the Castlemartyr Resort website
Pack your suitcase, we're off to Ireland for the Twelfth addition to my Hotel Wishlist series!   That's right, Ireland, the beautiful island in the North Atlantic separated from Great Britain.  The island sitting at about the same distance from me as Belgium... and yet I've found myself exploring the latter twice in the past year and have never once stepped foot in Ireland. It's a bit embarrassing really considering how much the country has to offer - though consider this the beginning of my making amends to the 'Emerald Isle'!

For this dreamy escape, the focus is on the luxurious Castlemartyr Resort, a five-star hotel located amid Cork's woodlands.  Quite incredibly, the village of Castlemartyr takes its name from the castle since being built in 1210, which gives you a pretty good idea of the location's importance and influence on the area.  Since then the construction of the Manor House has taken place in the 17th-century and has consequently become the centerpiece for the resort as a whole.

As fascinating as the history behind the resort is, the luxurious interior design is even more compelling.  As always, to comprise the Hotel Wishlist series, I go by the designated galleries on each website.  On this occasion, the bedrooms are wonderfully finished in a classic style with occasional ornate flairs and don't even get me started on the wood-panelled Presidential Suite bathroom (shown above) and private Dining Room (shown below)!  Dreamy!
Another reason I chose to list Castlemartyr as the first Irish hotel on my Hotel Wishlist is due to its impressive range of activities available from which to pick and choose.  Okay, I'll admit to usually only realising what activities are able to be arranged after leaving a hotel, but I like to think if I found myself at the 5-star luxury resort, I'd take advantage of their carriage ride service and admire the 220 acres of grounds along the way...
Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed reading the twelfth addition as much as I've enjoyed writing about it; it's always a pleasure to hear your thoughts on my selections - happy daydreaming!
