Grey Play With A Touch Of Shade

Jessica Nails Monarch 719 GreyGrey isn't the first colour that springs to mind during these warmer months of the year and yet here I am, proudly wearing it and wondering why I'd never done so before!  With so much attention lately going to the unusual yet strangely attractive grey hair trend, it inspired me to apply the colour to my nails - a far less permanent alternative of injecting the steely shade into my life.

Painshill Park

Painshill Park SurreyRolling hills, wide open spaces and unique features around every corner, Painshill Park is pretty much a playground for adults.  Located in Surrey, the award winning landscape garden is somewhere I've been meaning to visit for quite some time and now that I have finally made my way there during this beautiful month of June, I'm pleased to say it very much lived up to my expectations!

Nakd Raw Fruit & Nut Bars

Nakd Snack Bar Blog ReviewAlthough I really do eat an insane amount of chocolate, if I were to guess my most eaten food, I'd probably say Jordans Frusli Cereal Bars in Cranberry and Apple.  Not only are they handy for eating 'on the go', they're delicious too!  The only problem with reaching for the same bar every day however, is that it can become monotonous.  Thankfully, I don't have to start rummaging through the supermarket aisles just yet though, for with perfect timing, I was sent a mixed case of wonderfully nutritious Nakd Snack Bars c/o to try by young British company, Natural Balance Foods.  Yum!

London Palladium: Beyond Bollywood

Beyond Bollywood London Palladium

I have a never-ending list of interests and hobbies, with some appearing and soon evaporating.. as well as others hanging around for quite some time.  An example of the latter is attending the theatre and particularly to watch murder mystery plays and musicals; for years now I've been enjoying regular trips to theatres to admire great talent along with soaking up some of the flamboyant and creative atmosphere.  With this in mind, I was thrilled to be invited to see Beyond Bollywood at the London Palladium and share my thoughts on A Glass Of Ice!

Bruges City Break: Part Three

Brasserie De Carré Bruges BelgiumI've become incredibly fond of sharing travel diaries on A Glass Of Ice and so reaching this third and final part of my Bruges city break is just a little disappointing.  On the one hand, there'll be plenty more travel diaries to come in the future, however on the other hand.. can I not remain nostalgic about this 'mozzarella and tomato ball' hors d'oeuvre for a while longer?

Bruges City Break: Part Two

Grand Hotel Casslebergh Bruges BelgiumOkay, here we at part two of my city break - I hope you enjoyed the first instalment of my Belgium travel diary!  I'll pick up from where I left off - greedily tucking into sweet treats at the quaint Tea-room De Proeverie before wandering through the cobbled streets of Bruges.  So, as the sun was beginning to set, we made our way back to the sumptuous Grand Hotel Casslebergh where we were staying on this occasion.  I have to admit, I truly believe a grand hotel is at it's finest come the evening - the lighting changes, guests swap sweats for chinos and the ambience nearly always becomes borderline romantic.

Bruges City Break: Part One

Grand Hotel Casselbergh Bruges BelgiumExploring new cities can be so refreshing (and exciting), however sometimes, it can be just as nice to revisit somewhere you've previously discovered.  There's a certain degree of comfort and security in doing so, as you know where you're going and can sit back and enjoy the ride, as opposed to eagerly searching to squeeze as much out of the city as possible in the time you have.  On this occasion, my 'revisit' was the historic city centre of Bruges, a place I never grow tired of regardless how many times I visit!  One thing I do change however, is the hotel to return to at the end of each day - this time, I had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hotel Casselbergh.

Decléor Aromessence Rose D'Orient Night Balm

Decléor Aromessence Night Balm I'm all for products that promote relaxation, whether they be candles, bath oils or reed diffusers.. if the product is on board for inducing tranquility, so am I!  One thing, however, that hadn't occurred to me until very recently was that the same level of relaxation could be directed to the face.  I've been aware of Decléor for a few years now and so when I came across their luxurious Aromessence Rose d'Orient Night Balm, I figured it was time to begin my love affair with the aromatherapy skincare brand!

Something Dreamy...

Early tomorrow morning, I'll be setting off for Belgium in preparation of spending a few days in the beautiful city of Bruges.  I've lost count of how many times I've visited this area now, however I'll continue revisiting as it never seems to lose it's charm!

I find that when I'm on the verge of visiting somewhere far away, I tend to spend more time looking back over some of my favourite poems.  You could put it down to many things, however I like to think that the sense of 'escape' has something to do with it.  So anyway, whilst I'm away this week, I thought I'd leave you with a hopelessly romantic and dreamy poem by Edgar Allan Poe, Annabel Lee.

Arundel Castle and Gardens

Arundel Castle SummerEarlier today, I posted a photo of myself (or rather, the back of my head) in the gardens of Arundel Castle on Instagram.  For a while, I wondered how on Earth to put into words how I felt; how I felt about the beautiful weather, how I felt about the spectacular gardens, how I felt about the fascinating castle and on and on.  Eventually, I settled for an accompanying caption that summed up every thought and feeling I had on the day, one of my favourite quotes:

''Summertime is always the best of what might be''

Mii Cosmetics 'Ethereal Collection': Cheeks

Over the past week or so, I've been covering the Ethereal Collection c/o by Mii Cosmetics on A Glass Of Ice, starting with the lip products and moving on to the eye colours.  With this in mind, this third instalment discusses the beautiful skin shimmers kindly sent my way!  As you'll know by now, the collection is made up of seven items and all of which sport playful and rather enchanting names - on this occasion, you're looking at the Celestial Skin Shimmers 'Aurora' and 'Rose Quartz'.

Hotel Wishlist: Caramel Boutique Hotel & Resort, Crete

All photos taken from the Caramel Boutique Hotel & Resort website
So here we are, we've made it to June with tubs of ice cream in our freezers and the sun is.. well, the sun is still playing hide and seek.  Having said that, apparently by the end of the week England will be drenched in sunshine and it can't come soon enough for me as I'm hoping to tan a little before travelling to Belgium next week (yeah, I'm also aware of how ambitious that goal is - anticipate a super-pale travel diary)!  Anyway, until the sun comes out along with BBQs and bare legs, a little bit of daydreaming goes a long way and never more than of climates England can only dream of reaching.  This luxurious new addition to my Hotel Wishlist is the Caramel Boutique Hotel & Resort in Crete.
