Revamped Workout Playlist

female fitness health blogger 2016So, guess who's injured her knee?  This girl!  I'd forgotten how frustrating it was to be unable to run for a little while. Yesterday, I even went as far as getting changed and putting on my trainers before remembering running wasn't an option!  However, looking on the bright side, it's forced me to switch things up again and re-evaluate my workouts.  I've definitely become a creature of habit and so perhaps injuring my knee could be interpreted as a stroke of good luck? Okay, maybe not.  But it has helped me to place more focus on my workouts outside of running.  I've most likely still got another week or so of 'resting up' remaining and so to accompany my arms/abs sessions, I've revamped my workout playlist and listed the cherry-picked songs below.  So far, they've helped to keep me motivated throughout my current plan until I'm able to run again.  If you're looking for a 'refresh' then fingers crossed some of these will help to spur you on as well!

Kyodan pro-series leggingsLike most people, I listen to a huge mixture of genres.  However when it comes to the argument of fitness music, I stand by the opinion of fast tempos helping - along with obtrusive sounds and when possible, motivational lyrics!  Basically anything that pumps you up and convinces you to go faster, harder or simply just to last that bit longer.  So with that said, here's my current workout playlist!

As you can imagine, this insanely long playlist is really helping me as I see through my current routine before turning most of my attention back to running.  I love looking back over previous playlists and seeing how my taste has changed. Last month I seemed to favour more heavy dance from the early 00s, though the month before that it was all about rock. Anyway, I hope one or two of these make it onto your current playlist and help to motivate you as a result!  Speaking of which, what's on your personal fitness playlist right now?  Anything I should be adding to mine?!

    Music is essential for a good workout, and mentally encourages you to train for longer too which is an added benefit. Spotify is so useful :)

    You look wonderfully fit, it's so important to train daily that's for sure and great music helps motivate!

    Thanks for sharing and hope your knee gets better soon! Try HIIT workouts and swimming to mix things up a bit as running can hurt knees, great to have a range so you don't hurt your joints :)

  46. Sorry to hear about your knee but at least you only have another week before you can start up again. Lower body injuries are always more restrictive when it comes to being able to work out while rehabbing. I don't really listen to music when I work out since I mainly do yoga and pilates but my headphones are always plugged in when I walk around NYC :)

Amazing photos, so inspiring....Perfect motivation to get started with working out regularly (something that I failed to do this Spring but I tell myself that is not so bad because I walk a lot). So sorry to hear about your knee injury. That must suck! It is great you're able to see the silver lining...You're right, it can be a nice opportunity to explore other working out options. Running is great for the body, but with a little effort you can probably find other types of physical activity that you can like as much as you like running!

    Nice work out music list! I do agree that strong beats can be really helpful to motivate us to exercise with more jest. Besides, dancing is a form of working out so when we don't feel inspired to work out, we can just dance a bit. Dancing in our own home can be a very liberating experience!

    Despite my strong affection for (and adoration of) the English literature, I almost never listen to songs/music in English. I used to do so in the past but then I started exploring more. From time to time I might listen to some old rock hits, but most of the music I listen to is the one most people haven't heard about. When it comes to work out music, I usually opt for: Croatian dance music from the nineties, Croatian rock music from the eighties, Italian music of all kinds but quite often I pick out old disco hits, Latin American music such as salsa, and sometimes also Spanish hits and anything connected with flamenco.

  48. Aw, sorry to hear about your knee, Gabrielle. I slipped and fell last week playing football with my son. I've been limping for the past couple of days, but thanks to God my leg is getting much better. Hope yours get better also.

  87. First off, you look amazing, Gabrielle! You're so incredibly lean and fit! I know the feeling of not being able to work out or run due to injury. When I had surgery on my breast, to remove a benign tumor, years ago, I wasn't permitted to go to the gym for about 3 weeks; I couldn't lift anything! It was rough because I've been working out 4-5x a week for 10 years now, so it always makes me feel down and off when I'm not able to go. But, I like and admire your attitude towards the strain, which I'm sorry you experienced and I hope you get better very soon!
