Transitional Styling: Tuxedo Jacket

Fashion Blogger Styling Black Tuxedo JacketGrowing up, I remember teasing my mum about the sheer volume of jackets and coats she'd amassed.  Well, the jokes on me because I can barely breathe these days underneath my pile of jackets!  No complaints here though, and especially not when it comes to the dilemma of transitional styling.  I'm trying to think ahead right now for the sake of March, by finding ways to bridge the gap between Winter and Summer styling.  My favourite realisation so far?  Tuxedo Jackets are (still) pretty amazing.

Handmade Velvet Embellished Black ChokerI have a big fat issue with dressing separately for day and night, and by this I mean I love bringing elements of 'night dressing' into daytime.  Needless to say, tuxedo jackets totally play into this.  Add a pair of statement earrings and heels, but then tone it down with a casual printed/graphic tee and you've successfully blurred the line!  The umbrella seen in this post is another head-turning accessory that playfully refreshes a tuxedo jacket and I love it.  Designed by Lulu Guinness for Fulton, it features a lightweight frame and recognisable Lulu Guinness branding - which I matched with a DIY velvet choker (anyone else addicted to making chokers?!).

Fulton Lulu Guinness Superslim 2 Stickers UmbrellaI'm sure the next couple of months will see me bounce around from sheepskin coats to lightweight jackets and from chunky knits to cropped tees.  When the weather can't make up its mind, nor can our wardrobes, right?!  Anyway, hope you all have a lovely week ahead - and I look forward to reading your thoughts on tuxedo jackets!

With love,

Denim Dungarees x Brighton Pier

Fashion blogger styling denim dungarees
While in Brighton the weekend before last, I took the opportunity to whip out one of my favourite purchases of the year so far - denim dungarees!  With a newfound love for pieces designed by Donna Ida for Jaeger since styling a midi skirt for Autumn and swapping skinny jeans for flares, I picked up these gorgeous dungarees last month after spotting them in the sale.  I'm pretty sure you'll be seeing them appear time and time again on A Glass Of Ice, though for now they can be found on Brighton Pier, basking in the sun...

Weekend Break In Brighton

Brighton Harbour Hotel White BuildingHaving only ever made fleeting visits to the seaside town (and not for many years), last weekend I was very excited to hit the road and stay the night in a room with a sea view.  Even though there's plenty to do in Brighton on a short break, it really brought the goods when it came to relaxation.  By the end of my stay, I could physically feel my pace slowing and shoulders lowering.  Bliss. So, you've got 24 hours to play with - how do you spend your time in Brighton?

Morning Run Overlooking Brighton Beach

Ivy Park UK Fitness Blog
Rewind to last weekend when I was spending a couple of days in the beautiful seaside town of Brighton, and I could be found running alongside the seafront with a hazy view of Brighton Pier in the distance.  Needless to say, these photos were taken before I'd ran my way into a sweaty mess!  Knowing it was going to be an unusually sunny winter's day, I headed out early in the morning to avoid the crowds (which believe me were insane) and watched the town spring into action: beach hut stalls opening, yogi practising a Sun Salutation, builders beginning work and tourists eventually heading onto the pebble-filled beach.  Dressed in head-to-toe new activewear from JDSports, I got to see Brighton at its very best.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: The Making Of Harry Potter

Harry Potter Scale Model Hogwarts CastleHave you ever admired somewhere without it actually dawning on you that you could visit there yourself?  That's been my situation with the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London; forever lusting after that famous scale model of Hogwarts Castle and yet never making the time to visit.  Anyway, after having watched all seven films in 48 hours in December with my brother, we decided to book tickets to immerse ourselves in all things Harry Potter by setting off for the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London! Enter the Wizarding World...

Dressing Up Athleisure: Gold Pleats & Fishnets

Black fishnet ankle socks
As you can tell from the occasional white spotting across these images - it's been snowing!  I feel as though I've been waiting forever for the white fluffy stuff, and ironically it finally started falling while  I was wearing a cropped sweater.  So I guess the moral of the story is... to be careful what you wish for!  Anyway, I've mentioned before I have a pretty extensive collection of activewear, and so needless to say I've been adoring the athleisure hype.  Some say it's dying a grim death, others are hugging their trainers.  Me?  I'll forever be on board, so long as I'm able to dress it up every now and again.  Cue my current fave stilettos and a gold pleated skirt...

Fabienne Egger Floristry Class At Morton's Club London

Event at Morton's Private Member Club in LondonRegardless of the topic, I've noticed I tend to sneak some form of nature into each blog post in one way or another.  So, you can imagine my delight at spending yesterday afternoon knee deep in flowers!  Better yet, knee deep in flowers at the Morton's Club in London's Mayfair and in a beautifully bright, fresh space.  Early in the afternoon, I made my way in the sunshine to the private member's club, where the media were to be introduced to both Fabienne Egger and her new venue for Floristry Classes.  With a schedule of creating a luxurious table centre design, followed by the chance to create a picture-perfect flower frame, I put my apron on and prepared to get stuck in...

24 Hours In Stratford-upon-Avon

Old fashioned black telephoneIf you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I ended last month with a visit to the medieval market town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Although it's one of England's most popular areas for tourism, I'd never visited before, and so to spend some time soaking up the atmosphere and checking out some of the most popular sites was a brilliant way to see through the end of January (my least favourite month).  I'm an advocate of going off the beaten track, though where the quaint town of Stratford-upon-Avon is concerned, I'd suggest the popular sites are popular for a reason...

Bringing Spring To Your Winter Wardrobe

UK fashion blog glasshouse photoshootWith so many beautiful Spring pieces starting to hit stores, it can be a challenge to weigh up wearing them now and freezing to death, or packing them away and hoping you still like them come April.  However, transitional styling has a great reputation for a good reason - you can get stuck into upcoming season styles without sacrificing warmth.  You're basically playing with two wardrobes at once!
