Bringing Spring To Your Winter Wardrobe

UK fashion blog glasshouse photoshootWith so many beautiful Spring pieces starting to hit stores, it can be a challenge to weigh up wearing them now and freezing to death, or packing them away and hoping you still like them come April.  However, transitional styling has a great reputation for a good reason - you can get stuck into upcoming season styles without sacrificing warmth.  You're basically playing with two wardrobes at once!

Wolf & Whistle blue textured dress spring/summer 2017
Wolf & Whistle dress detailsThis beautiful light blue and sleeveless dress by Wolf & Whistle is part of their new SS17 collection, and completely stole my attention at first glance.  Along with a strange fascination with glasshouse structures, I have a soft spot for pastel colours worn against black pieces.  In this case, I've dug out one of my favourite cropped jackets, a simple faux leather design featuring a shearling collar.  By mixing typical 'winter textures' like leather and shearling, with light materials and Springtime shades, you meet somewhere in the middle of the two seasons.  Win-win!

Styling a leather jacket to look more feminineAs much as I want to reach for all the blush and all the pink shades, I tend to opt for natural-looking makeup when arriving to the Spring party a couple of months early.  I've linked to some of my fave products below that I reach for when going for that 'my face but better' look.  They're all available at Boots and with 10% off everything using this code exclusively found at Voucher Box.  It's available on anything at Boots when you spend over £85, though be quick as it expires tomorrow!

Psst!  I'm wearing Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation in 005 and Clarins Instant Concealer in 01.

Fashion blog styling spring clothing in winterWhile we're all waiting for the sun to come out and the temperature to climb back up, mixing winter and spring wardrobes can be a great way of bridging the gap between the seasons.  And at the very least, it means being able to justify those pretty Springtime purchases a couple of months in advance!  Do you have any fave ways of wearing Spring pieces earlier in the year?

With love,

Gabrielle x

  19. Oh wow, you look fantastic, I love the look of the pastel on black and that dress looks so girly but toughed up with the leather. I've also been wanting to try that Lancome foundation, have you seen the Lancome spring collection? I know you said you're avoiding the pinks but it is seriously stunning!

  21. Tights are an important clothing item for me, especially when it comes to figuring ways to wear spring pieces in winter. Warm tights (or in some cases socks) help me to get away with wearing light materials when it is warm. Another tip- that I'm sure everyone knows about- is layering. Finally, I would say that a leather jacket (faux or real leather) is a game changer. As you have demonstrated here, styling one with a feminine piece gives one such a stunning dressed up look that isn't too dressed up.

I do really like that pastel blue dress on you. Pairing pastels with black is always a win-win...I've been thinking of pairing one pastel pink dress I have with a leather jacket- and now that I see your outfit, I know that I should try it. This combo looks fabulous on you. Big love for those killer heels. You look absolutely gorgeous!!!!

You're definitely right that your almost hesitant to buy anything for Spring because the weather just simply doesn't match what we'd expect! The Wolf & Whistle dress is so darling and versatile, you've shown just how you simply you can change it up too!

To be honest, I am actually ready for spring (and I love winter) ---love your motley ensemble with the hard leather shell and light dress. I am a fan of wearing leather moto jackets with day dresses!
