Statement Shirt: The Frillier, The Better?

Cropped Navy Blue Smart ChinosI've mentioned before my tendency to overdress, rather than underdress, right?  Well, this means needing to constantly put together handfuls of outfits each season that sit somewhere in the middle of the scale; ones that suit various occasions without looking totally out of place.  Now the warmer weather is here, my go-to is short-sleeve, or completely sleeveless shirts.  The frillier and fancier, the better!  Don't you just love this flamboyant statement trend?!
Karen Millen The Super Frill White Shirt

Cropped Chinos - Ralph Lauren

Ideal of Sweden Blog Collaboration Snakeskin Case
Al-occasion Pretty Spring StylingThis kind of middle-ground outfit means you can easily sweep from one occasion to the next without needing to change.  Needless to say, 'various occasions' is one hell of a sweeping statement!  I'm mainly talking meetings, dinners, seeing friends, shopping, dates and parties.  Wear five-inch pink satin stilettos to the gym at your own peril.  I've kept the focus on the gorgeous frilled shirt, working in just two other colours - hot pink (lips and shoes) and navy (bag and chinos).
Sleepless white frilly shirt by Karen MillenI'd love to hear your thoughts on statement shirts this season - the frillier, the better?  Have a fabulous weekend!

With love,

  12. This frilled white t-shirt is so pretty. Pairing it with black pants was a great choice. There is something very classic about a nice black and white combo. Speaking of which, those purple satin heels are the perfect item to bring in that 'pop of colour element' to this outfit a little.

You look ravishing dear! This is such a perfect Spring outfit...and to answer your question, I do like this trend. When it comes to ruffles, frills and all that...I'm all in.

  48. I'd have to say YES to that question, the frillier the better! I'm loving statement tops this season. They allow for you to go basic with the rest of your outfit, if you so choose, or combine them with chic color combinations, as you've done here with the navy and hot pink; I love this color combo! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having the best start to your week so far!

  56. I'm pretty into the whole frilly thing because my style is usually pretty girly, especially if I have to dress for work or for a more formal occasion, it's much more fun to me to add a girly element with frills or ruffle details. I haven't found one yet but I'm on the hunt for a high-necked frilly/embroidered white blouse with long sleeves.
