Classic White Shirt, With A Twist...

Estella Bartlett Avocado NecklaceYou can never have too many white shirts in your wardrobe, true.  But you can have too much of the same thing.  So, in a bid to bring some diversity to my shirt collection, this year I've been searching for various statement shirts (starting back in May with Karen Millen's coveted Super Frill Shirt - in a very 'Alice in Wonderland' kind of setting!).  But the search didn't stop there, and I've since found myself eyeing up ruffles, pussy bows, pleats and embroidered beauties.  At the end of this post, I've put together a little edit of classic white shirts with a twist, ready to pair with your favourite denim and midi skirts...

Classic White Shirt With a Twist
UK luxury fashion style blogger
Z for Accessorize dainty jewellery ringsThis shirt marks my first Needle and Thread purchase, having discovered the embroidered style on Net-a-Porter at the weekend. The busy, ditsy floral design calls for simple, dainty jewellery and so I've paired it with the cutest necklace of all time - a mixed metal and gold plated mini avocado from Estella Bartlett.  It's the ultimate blogger cliché and I love it!

Recognise this belt?  I haven't actually worn it since pairing it with the striped shirt dress for Riviera styling, though considering I'm yet to take the plunge with Gucci's popular GG belt, it's a bit of a godsend!  Statement logo-belts can add so much to a classic white shirt, and without going overboard.

What's your favourite way to style a classic white shirt - with, or without, a twist?!

  11. You're so right though! You can have several items of the same clothing piece style, but they have to be different from one another. Like fun and interesting details like this one. Love the subtle statement and the chic and classic way you've styled it. Always so gorgeous! Xx

  14. To be honest, I have many white and black blouses for work but they all have different elements to them so I adore extra details. Ditsy prints are my favourite, and even better when a drop of embroidery adorns the shirt. But, let's talk about your belt! How absolutely fabulous! <3 x

  16. I love this shirt and the way you style it! I think my favourite way to wear a white shirt is probably to tuck it into my jeans, and wear a pretty bralet or a choker with it just to make it a little bit more interesting! Lovely post :)

  19. Another beautiful fashion post Gabrielle! I haven't read blogs in ages, I need to catch up on everything you've posted haha. Classic shirts are definitely a staple, but when they have a little something to them it makes them even more special. I really like the statement belt, and dainty jewellery. This makes a very versatile outfit!

  22. Love this post Gabrielle! A white shirt is one of those staples that never goes out of style and it can be worn for so many different things, and I am currently lacking one, so I need to get a nice shirt for more formal occasions soon. I love the print on this one, the little flowers give it something extra that I'm often looking for as you're right, we all need something a little different. You look amazing! - Tasha

  25. It is a shirt with a difference. It reminds me of one of my white dresses from an Australian brand Camilla and Marc - it has sort of like wispy bits coming out of the cotton and appears very much like the details of this shirt. You outfit is elegant and classic and comfy. Great post!

  27. I've only very recently imputed a crisp white shirt into my wardrobe after realising just how much I could use it for and I've been loving it ever since. I love this gentle embroidered twist for something a little different but still an absolute classic!
