On Cloud Nine

A few moments ago, it dawned on me that this time tomorrow I will be in Italy.  I could be strolling through the streets past fountains, tucking into a pizza larger than my face.. or more likely, I could be absolutely shattered and opting instead to nap during daylight hours (and probably with my shoes still on).  It's always an odd thought to think you'll be somewhere so far away in such a short space of time, though it's a welcome one.  As you'll most likely be able to tell from my blog, I truly do appreciate all that England has to offer, however that doesn't remove the presence of constant wanderlust.  I mentioned the other day I had been invited to spend a few days in Rome to experience and share my thoughts on a hotel and I'm pleased to say that time has now come - and I'm even more pleased to say that means an abundance of European travel photos on A Glass Of Ice next week!

International Giveaway: Benefit Ultra Plush Lipgloss

Benefit Ultra Plush Lipgloss Kiss You Guess who reached 1000 followers on Bloglovin'?  This girl!  Guess who forgot to host a giveaway to celebrate, as planned?  Uh, this girl.  Nevertheless, it's here now and it comes with a Benefit Ultra Plush Lipgloss in tow!  I thought a wonderful way of celebrating and thanking you all would be to host another giveaway - and taking into consideration all of the countries A Glass Of Ice is reaching (again, thank you!), it's open worldwide.  Ooh..

Hotel Wishlist: Le Bristol Paris

Note: all photos have been taken from the Le Bristol Paris website
Help!  I've fallen for a hotel and I can't get up!  I realised earlier today I haven't added to my Hotel Wishlist series (hotels I'm yet to visit) for quite some time and so let's welcome new addition, Le Bristol Paris.  The hotel appeared on my radar a little while ago as I was daydreaming about visiting Paris again, it's been a good few years now since I've stepped foot in the romantic city and so I now find myself coping with a certain degree of nostalgia.  I miss the majestic churches, fantastic street style and iconic landmarks and all of these longings have led on to one incredibly important thought.. if I were to revisit Paris, where would I stay?

Girl, put your records on..

Dauphines of New York Headband

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams
Just go ahead, let your hair down

Perhaps it's the time of year or memories attached to the song, but for some reason Corinne Bailey Rae's 'Put Your Records On' for me has always symbolised tranquility.  I don't mean to get too intense with this, but if you're feeling anything less than calm and at ease, I'd suggest listening to the easy-listening song on repeat until you feel the need to wear a brightly-coloured outfit, crystal headband and huge smile.

Kissed by Mii: Gradual Tan

Kissed by Mii Gradual TanIt's all a little back to front at the moment; I visited Barcelona back in October and found myself with a tan throughout the early months of winter, yet here I am as pale as snow at the height of summer!  I've very kindly been invited to stay in Italy next week for a few days courtesy of UNA Hotels and as excited as I may be, I'm also painfully aware of how I may well resemble a ghost as I walk through the streets of Rome and as a result, have spent the past few days actively planning a wardrobe that doesn't highlight how sun-deprived I am.  Thankfully, Kissed by Mii have come to the rescue by generously sending the Daily Boost Body Cream c/o and Daily Boost Face Cream c/o my way and consequently providing me with a 'tanning lifebuoy'!

Music Interview: Just Matthew

There are few things as inspiring as passion and I'm pleased to say it's something I've been surrounded by since starting A Glass Of Ice.  Whether we're talking about a passion for blogging, writing, acting, dancing, photography, modelling, singing or any other creative path similarly less trodden, one thing I always find inspiring in others is their passion.  A brilliant example of this is songwriter and recording artist of the stage name Just Matthew, a man who's music can already be found playing on 85 non-commercial radio stations across USA/Canada, as well as being available for purchase on iTunes!  With a sound that can't be pigeon-holed and a refreshing take on where life may lead him, the pleasure was all mine when interviewing Matthew to find out a little more about his memories, motives and musings..

Summer Salad with Florette

Florette Salad IdeaSomething I've been finding (quietly) hilarious all week long is how I consider myself to be an advocate for healthy living and yet can't remember the last time I actively put together a salad.  Long, sweaty workouts?  No problem.  A cocktail of vitamins?  No problem.  Making sure not to open my purse at every chocolate shop I pass?  Not too much of a problem.  However cheerfully placing a bag of salad in my shopping basket somehow has managed to find it's way onto the 'problem' list.  Though thankfully, my anti-salad days have been brought to an abrupt end and it's all thanks to Florette!  I was approached by the happy home of salads to create a recipe using their products - fast forward to the present and I'm proud to say I can now be found tucking into a bowl of salad as I watch back-to-back ancient episodes of A Place in the Sun: Home or Away..

Compton Acres Gardens

Compton Acres BournemouthOkay, it's time for everyone to say hello to Compton Acres.  Very rarely do I come across someone who knows where I'm talking about when mentioning these historic gardens on the South Coast of England and so from this point onwards, I shall devote my life (well, this post) to praising the place!  With 10 acres of beautiful gardens, water features and statues set just minutes away from Poole/Bournemouth's sandy coast, there's everything to love about the destination and a lot to praise..

Tips For Growing Longer and Healthier Hair

Very long blonde hair
As a child, I never bought a doll unless it had long hair and I mean ridiculously long hair.  If the hair didn't present the chance of tripping up the doll or wrapping around her neck ten million times, I wasn't interested.  With this in mind, I probably shouldn't be surprised that years later I now have long hair.  Having said that, the idea of being able to trip over my hair is a daunting one because I'm pretty accident-prone as it is and I can't say I like the idea of being able to sit on my hair either.  Nope, I've found my 'ideal length' which sits happily somewhere between my belly button and hips.  However, based on the emails I receive, I know that many others are still working towards their 'ideal length'.   So, cue an up-to-date hair care post for those trying to lengthen their locks..

Can You See The Ocean From Here?

Can You See The Ocean From Here?

Summer is well and truly here, the melamine picnic-wear is out, wide-brimmed sun hats are on and everyone is happily applying sun lotion.  As much as I love the chill of winter and all that it brings (hands up if you're a Christmas-aholic!), summer is very much where I belong.  I love the longer days, warm temperatures, abundance of flowers at every turn and of course, the brighter clothing.  I've made this fashion set with this warm and welcoming season in mind and the coastal trips it encourages.  Imagine for a moment you're driving down to the beach and from just a couple of miles away, you spot the ocean's horizon peeking between two large trees in the distance.. what are you wearing?

Hampton Court Palace Flower Show

Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2015 blogThis year, the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show celebrated it's 25th anniversary (June 30th - July 4th) and so knowing this, I reached for my sunglasses and sped to East Molesey (that is, after booking tickets in advance)! To my surprise, the weather at the flower show was even more pleasant than further down South, seeing a temperature of 27°C and frequent sunshine - though, that wasn't all the day had to offer..

Champneys: Scrubs and Butters

Champneys Spa ProductsScroll down my blog's archive all the way back to April and you'll find travel diaries from my spa break at Champneys Henlow (part one, two and three).  Now, I'm not one to think too intensely about the past, but I've been sat here for a good two or three minutes re-calculating the weeks since April because, well.. that spa break cannot have been three months ago!  I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the stack of spa products I'd brought home with me that have remained unopened since.  This situation very much reminds me of my younger self - the one that left suitcases zipped up and entirely untouched after returning from a holiday.  Guilty as charged.  Nevertheless, the (huge) positive of this is that you get to experience the excitement all over again!  In this instance, it means slathering myself in Champneys spa products and marvelling at their luxurious smells.

Inhale... and exhale.

National Compliment Your Mirror Day!

What day is it today?  Compliment Your Mirror Day!

Out of sheer curiosity, I looked online for a list of 'special' days this month (quietly hoping for a National Stuff Your Face With Doughnuts Day) and found that the third day of this month is in fact a pretty wonderful one. Annually celebrated on 3rd July, National Compliment Your Mirror Day encourages you to stare your reflection down in a mirror and compliment whatever you find.  Whether you choose to focus on your appearance or personality, it's all about strength and positivity on this day.  With this in mind, today seemed like the appropriate time to blog about this beautiful Renee Cobalt Dress c/o very kindly sent to me by Bae Boutique!

Plant Photography Masterclass: Adrian Davies

As I mentioned over on my Instagram, I attended a Plant Photography Masterclass last week.  The masterclass took place at RHS Garden Wisley and was with natural history and wildlife photographer Adrian Davies.  Over the duration of about six hours, I learnt more than I had done in a fair few months and returned home feeling well and truly inspired..
