Missguided Embroidered Smock DressI think we're all well aware by now that our wardrobes are never going to be 'complete'; there'll always be the need (ahem, want) for more embellished jumpers and pairs of jeans!  However all the same, I've noticed lately my wardrobe is severely lacking in dresses.  I'm talking about above-the-knee casual dresses that you can fling on and pair with dark tights and fierce heels, the type that looks playful and yet chic throughout the winter months.  It's a style I used to visit frequently until I discovered the addictive power of a well-fitting pair of jeans.  Though, I suppose you could say the (albeit brief) break has done some good, as with the start of this New Year I've noticed my love for 'doll dresses' returning and with much, much enthusiasm!

Having said that, there's every chance I'll be caught teaming this embroidered chiffon dress in the warmer months with a pair of fur-trimmed black heels or equally feminine satin stilettos - that's the beauty of casual day-dresses though, they play nicely with most accessories!

It's safe to say my appreciation of casual day dresses has well and truly returned - and with great vigour!  It solved my dilemma of what to wear to the Goya: The Portraits exhibition at The National Gallery, London.  Speaking of which, if you haven't managed to visit it by its ending date of 10th January 2016, check back in here as I'll be covering my experience of the exhibition in a few days from now!

With love,
