winter walks in england hampshireIt was only around a week ago I expressed my surprise to every unfortunate passer-by at not being frozen to the core considering the month was now January.  Though, clearly England heard me and so similar to how last year's summer appeared out of nowhere, winter has now well and truly arrived - and with little warning!  On this relaxing and plant-packed day, the sun was setting beautifully, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped to just 1ºC...

sunset plant photography winterWith no gloves or thermals on, I realised just how underprepared I was to be walking outdoors.  There's a few wardrobe essentials I've been continuously reaching for over recent months including this feather down jacket by Ralph Lauren and thermal, anti-fatigue heeled boots.  However, clothes of these types are both going to be entirely inappropriate come my trip to the Lake District in September of this year.  Funnily enough, my childhood was packed full with hiking holidays and such, but as time has gone on I've found myself gravitating towards city breaks.  I can't express how excited I am at the thought of being surrounded by hills and waterproof jackets once more, though one thing is for certain - my wardrobe isn't at all prepared. Time for some advance planning!

long blonde hair walkingAlthough I'll be doing a fair bit of travelling before visiting the Lake District, I'm genuinely excited for the opportunity to plan for a more unusual break.  There's no reaching for my usual 'city break style' and instead, planning for September weather enjoyed by fields of sheep and sloped hills.  Oh and uh, the one or five lakeside afternoon teas followed by shopping sprees, of course!
