I stopped sunbathing a few years ago in favour of protecting the longterm health of my skin. However, I don't avoid the sun at all costs - hence why I'm showcasing a pretty fancy X on my back right now. With tan lines in mind, I have to get a little creative during the first month of the new season by using Kissed by Mii gradual tanning products. Instant tans have never been my thing, whereas gradual tans seem far more appealing to remove just a little of the preliminary 'shocking white' so that tan lines aren't quite so severe. It's either that or blinding passers-by with the sheer white, brightness of my shins.
The Kissed by Mii Get Your Glow On c/o set has been a brilliant all-in-one kit for exfoliating, boosting and moisturising. The size of the kit is ideal, as I don't intend on using the gradual tanner for much longer than a month or so - that seems about long enough to obsess over the gorgeous fresh marine scent! However, if you've already fallen in love with a gradual tanning product and are now just on the lookout for something to up your game, try Kissed by Mii Seriously Smoothing Exfoliating Wipes c/o. So impressed. I'll definitely be picking up another pack of these ready for my return to the South of France next month. Gradual tan, instant tan, natural tan, no tan - these exfoliating wipes are perfect for tucking into your suitcase, ready to create a 'smooth canvas'.
Can you believe I used not to have a skincare regime in place? In fact, this was still the case at the beginning of last year! It was last spring when I finally pulled my head out of the sand and looked in the direction of Clarins for help. Fast forward to the present day and since first trying Clarins HydraQuench Lotion, I'm still a huge fan. And I mean a huge fan. It's ideal for combination skin and helps protect skin from UV damage with SPF 15. I don't love how quickly I'm getting through it right now, but I love everything else about it. It's pretty much an all-dancing, all-singing moisturiser: it's a beautifully light texture, helps soften dry patches (particularly down the sides of the nose, I've found) and helps banish shine, which is ideal for the summertime.
At Breakfast with Lancôme last week, I tried the Énergie De Vie Liquid Moisturiser on the back of my hand and was genuinely shocked to find how smooth my skin felt afterwards. To my delight, I was sent into the (not so delightful) rain with the Énergie De Vie Sleeping Mask c/o in hand, a product I've heard only good things about since its recent release. Having now tried it for myself, I can confirm the hype is justified. I love, love, love it! A very small amount is needed upon overnight application, though it can also be applied generously if used as a 10-minute face mask. The sleeping mask absolutely lives up to its claims of being radiating and hydrating, though more than anything I just love how smooth my skin feels right now.
With love,
Gabrielle x
I'm not a sun worshiper either. At the beach I am under the umbrella. Great skin care routine!
ReplyDeletei actually don't enjoy tanning either. my friends are always like 'omg let's go tan!' but i just want to stay away from that as much as possible because 1) skin cancer and 2) i tan too easily anyway so if i do an intense tanning session in one day, i'll become too dark for my liking. a little bronzed is perfect, but i hate bathing in the sun. would look into these products. gotta protect my skin!

I actually had that same Champney's body butter last year and I loved it but somehow I never got around to purchasing another one so I didn't even realize that they have new packaging. Thanks for the reminder to pick some up. I'm with you on avoiding sunbathing cause it's terrible for your skin. I even go as far as to tote an umbrella when it's super sunny but I'm certainly not against a nice fake tan. That Kissed by Mii set looks fab!
ReplyDeleteI used to sunbath all the time with my friend and without any sunscreen! It never crossed my mind how dangerous it was but I like being super tan. I'm smarter these days and I also rarely leave the house except for school and little tyke activities. The exciting life of a stay at home mum.

I just started using Clarins in my routine and excited/hopeful my skin will improve! I haven't seen that Lancome mask and you got my curious! I haven't tried Lancome skincare in depth and feel like I should venture around there some time!

Hi Gabrielle, I must admit, I don't have a strict skincare regime. It actually consists of any drugstore cleanser and coco butter.Maybe it's time to change my ways!

Clarins products are really really good! I've tried some products and I love the eye makeup remover! Simply amazing :) have a lovely day xx

I kinda miss the weather in Manchester actually, though I hated it when I was there. I love using a body butter, however, the weather in Bangkok would kill me because it is too hot so it might turn the creme into a liquid!

The moisturizer sounds amazing! I don't have a strict skincare regime as of now but I think it's time I start stepping towards that direction.

I used to sunbath all the time and all I cared about was having a nice tan, however I haven't had a chance to get tan and now I am white as cheese :) Whenever I stay outside without protection, I end up having unexpected tan :) Sleeping mask sounds good, anything helps the skin as I sleep is my bestie ha ha :) xx

It's so important to take care of your skin, especially in the summer when the sun is beating down! And the way you started your post is exactly how I feel about the weather over here too... And I can relate to already having some strange tan lines, but mine are on my feet from strappy sandals! We'll get through this season together. :)

Yes, Gabrielle, I know how much you love Clarins. I used to, but not now due to reasons I think I mentioned before on one of your blog posts. I seriously hope that Clarins will change my mind in the future with some tweaks in their ingredients though as I really do love how their product feel on my skin..
ReplyDeleteWell, we never really have tanning issues here, or at least not for me, as we are under the sun practically all year round and I am already tanned to begin with, so we don't really go all out and tan ourselves or use any products like Kissed by Mii here (which I have not heard of till now). But their packaging seems lovely and sounds good for you, to have a gradual tan instead of a "shocking" one, right?
Now, I was just gifted a bottle of the Lancome liquid care but have not dwell into using it just yet, though first impression during the media launch here was that it is quite a runny one, a very lightweight moisturiser and feels lovely on the skin. As for the sleeping mask, I didn't really get to sample that proper.
My favourite sleeping mask as of now, since few months back is the super gorgeous and luxurious one by L'Occitane. It really does what Lancome here is doing for you. Still so much in love with that. Perhaps will check this Lancome one out once I am almost done with mine.
Nice selection here. Summer already there?? Time really does fly when you are having a good time, right? haha
Hope you are enjoying your "now you see it, now you don't" kind of summer *_^ It's looking really bright there though, at least when you took these pictures, I must say, Gabrielle.

You have featured some of my favourite brands here, I'm a frequent Clarins user, and love their products so much. I will have to check out the body butter by Champneys since they have lovely products. I think a lot of people have the misconception that only certain people need sunscreen, but everyone really need to protect their skin with sunscreen. Have a great weekend. xx/Madison

Omg okay, hold up. I am completely with you on the super white skin thing, and I'd prefer to not blind people when the sun hits my chalk-white legs, so I definitely agree with you on the gradual tan thing. And oh, Champneys, I haven't used one of their products in a while, but hey it's always fun finding cool products hiding at the back of cabinets!

great summer care skin tips dear! It is important to take good care of our skin. During the Summer we expose a lot of our skin, so keeping it in a good state by applying body cream/butter and proper sun screen products not only boosts our confidence but also protects it.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos as well...I can't believe Summer is finally here.
These all seem super great! I need to try some of these out :)
ReplyDeleteFlorals&Smiles
Ohhh, this post is packed with amazing products, sweetie. You sold Hydra-Quench Lotion for me! I will make sure to pop into Clarins next time I am out and about doing some shopping.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love it when my skin is sun-kissed and has that lovely glow, I am quite careful with the amount of UV rays my skin is exposed to. I do tan super quickly and easily (just that kind of the skin type) while my hubby burns and turns into a tomato, poor thing. We both love the beach but definitely know when to be in the shade. So important!
