Lost Ink Burgundy Shirt Dress at House of FraserI'll be honest with you, I'm one of those people who throw themselves head first into every season.  The very beginning of this month saw me stock up on multi-wick candles and save DIY Halloween posts to my favourites, and so you can pretty much guess my stance on Christmas.  You did notice I visited Käthe Wohlfahrt's Christmas shop while in Bruges, right?  So, to go hand-in-hand with the A/W collections causing a stir right now, I'm grouping the two seasons together and beginning preparations.  Personally speaking, this means continuing my obscene collection of candles, becoming reacquainted with open fires after long, chilly walks and most excitingly of all, starting to build on that Autumn-Winter wardrobe!

Entering this gorgeous new season, the usual culprits are on my radar such as ankle boots and an abundance of velvet and suede. However, to my delight, this time around they seem to be delivered with a twist.  Ankle boots are embroidered, jewel-coloured suede jackets are combined with shearling, and there seems no end to the ways of adding velvet to your body - no complaints here! However, the element of A/W styling that seems to get us all, ahem, hot under the collar, is the warmer, darker colour palette; such as khaki, oxblood, cinnamon, and of course black.

Needless to say, I've got a bit of a 'thing' for burgundy at the moment.

Let me in!
This (true to size) short-sleeved shirt dress has been a very welcome addition to my new season wardrobe, particularly as its versatility allows for both cold and humid days alike.  I can even see it working well towards the end of the year once the party season gets underway, worn with a cropped faux fur jacket and knee-high boots.  For now though, I took the opportunity to finally take these Karen Millen beauties out of their box having bought them earlier in the year.  Impulse buy?  Probably, but I couldn't resist the fur-trims!

Another thing I'm finding hard to resist right now is Lost Ink, the label behind this dress and now - thanks to House of Fraser - my current obsession.  With a philosophy of 'affordable chic', London based Lost Ink has pretty much stolen my heart with their strong and feminine designs; think bow-neck knitwear, furry biker jackets and the most irresistible shoe range (check out these gorgeous pom pom ankle boots!)
