1 - Get the job done. Tick something off your to-do list that has been playing on your mind. It may not seem like self-care at the time, but it'll certainly feel like it afterwards - as though a weight has been lifted off your shoulders!
-
2 - Treat your body. Massage, full body scrub, haircut and blow-dry, facial, pedicure. Alternatively, treat your wardrobe to a little something-something that enhances your down-time, eg. cashmere jumpsuit, new dressing gown...
-
3 - Edit your social circle. By this, I don't mean leaving yourself with nothing but a box-set for company. I mean taking note of which friendships are one-sided and leave you feeling taken for granted, or too often the recipient of someone's bad mood. Take a step back for a while to focus on yourself and then if you still really want them in your life, maybe (subtly) introduce them to the concept of self-care?!
-
4 - Focus on your qualities. Apply the part of you that loves complimenting and boosting other people to yourself. When you wake up, think of a few things you love about yourself, or that you know people appreciate. Before falling asleep, list 3 good things that have happened that day
-
5 - Be Mindful. There's a very good reason practicing mindfulness is so popular; being grateful, focusing on the present and being aware can do wonders for your sense of calm. Anything that tears us away from negativity, feeling overwhelmed and drawing comparisons can only be a good thing, right?

Great post. You looks gorgeous Gabrielle! Love the rings! Self care is so important.
ReplyDeleteI love these Gabrielle! They're really helpful for the mind, body and soul. I've edited the people I have in my life. Some were not making me feel good (always negative or truly didn't care). I feel much better without them. It also makes me feel better when I take time and pamper myself. You just don't feel the same, when you let yourself go. I'm also loving quiet time. I make lists everyday. If I only achieve one thing off my list, I still feel great.

I love your insight on self-care, Gabrielle! I think we need to take inventory of our life, to reflect on what's going on around us...and clear the air of negativity and start fresh. Life is good, thanks for such an inspirational post! xo

One of the best pieces of advice I've had is to be kind to yourself. I agree that a quick boost like some chocolate or a new item of clothing is a great pick me up! As always, your photos are lovely 😊 Angharad x

I love your tips, Gabrielle. I completely agree with you that with the festive period just around the corner, we can't forget about being nice to ourselves. I started practising mindfulness a few weeks ago and have noticed a difference it makes it my attitude towards life and everything that happens to me.

These were some great tips, the one that I agree with most is that you should get some job done - it not only keeps you motivated but it also keeps you in a good mood about yourself!
ReplyDeleteP.S. your sweater is gorgeous!

This post is so lovely babe- I really need to take your advice and practice mindfulness, as I find myself often been caught up too much in my own worries. I love how snug and pretty the photos are too- you rock this sweater and that pretty ring was made for the Autumnal leaf-filled landscape

What a beautiful post Gabrielle and perfect way to start November. I hadn't started it on a high note but I'm determined to make the most of it and keep positive, even if things appear to not be going as planned! I love number 4. I'm my worst critic at times and I think I should start a practice of reminding myself about the good within.

I really love your tips, especially about doing them in comfort, especially with a cup of tea :) Mindfulness is something I am focusing on at the moment, so I really need to work on that! Love the jumper, and the ring :)

I always find organising my to do list into manageble chunks helps. Just listing "do enormous task" will mean it will never get done, but if I list the multiple little things that go into that enormous task it slowly gets eaten away at x
ReplyDeleteThese are such lovely tips, I def needed them. My tip for this month is to stop stressing about stuff when I got to bed and deal with them in the morning when I have clear mind. Thanks for sharing this!

I couldn't agree more, beautiful, when I get all my to-dos done or I plan ahead for the work week, dinner, etc. it really does help to alleviate any stress and in some cases, completely diminishes it. I also love the suggestion for taking care of ourselves. It can become so easy to let ourselves go in the midst of getting stuff done, but when we do and take a look at our current negative physical and mental state, it can really make things worse. Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, I love that ring and sweater by the way! I hope you're having the best week so far!

I've been getting more and more into self-care and mindfullness recently, it seems to bring so much positivity into one's life that we should definitely try and get more into it to feel better. However this month, I would say getting things done is the number one advice I need to follow - so much work, so little time before we all get into the whirlwind of Christmas! :D

Beautiful as ever! Self care is so important and it can be hard to remember to care for yourself! I agree with all of your points so much! Editing your social circle is extremely important to help from spreading yourself too thin. My favorite self care is just taking 'me' time: bubble baths, a good book, netflix, pampering nights, etc. I want to try to get into meditating a bit more! xx

Very cool tips! Self care for me is saying No to things I truly don't want to do, or have time to squeeze in to my already filled schedule just to please someone. It really is not beneficial to try to please others while making yourself unhappy. Don't get me wrong I love helping others, but sometimes it's a must that I take time to reflect and do things that I love. That makes me happy. :))

This is such a great post and I'm definitely going to be putting your tips into practice. It is so easy to get caught up in hectic day to day routines so taking some time out for yourself is so important. One thing I am guilty of is saying yes to every invite, even if it's not something I really want to do. Your suggestion to edit your social circle is one that really resonated with me and something I should really think about :) Thank you for sharing and hope you're having a great weekend x
ReplyDelete2 and 3 are the main ones I am working on this month, I guess 1 too since I have been slacking a bit uni-wise this last month!

Self care is important! Editing our social circle is something we should do at least once in a while. We always should be on a lookout for toxic relationships and toxic friendships can really bring us down.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable on these shots...your hair is so pretty....
