Blenheim Palace Summer Travel DiaryFor obvious reasons, summer tends to bring out the 'wanderers' inside of us all, which goes a long way in explaining why I got the overwhelming urge to travel over to Oxfordshire and re-visit Blenheim Palace!  I get similar vibes from the country house to that of Waddesdon Manor; the grand, expansive, tourist-attracting appeal.  With an entire day to play with, have a little peek at the many beauties of Blenheim Palace ready to be explored, featuring both building and gardens...

If you find yourself in the general area this summer, I can't emphasise enough how perfect Blenheim Palace is for consuming an entire day.  It's an ideal location to visit with family, your other half, or even alone.  For the history enthusiasts, there's an obvious attraction of it having been built over 300 years ago, and more recently being Winston Churchill's birthplace.  Beyond that, there's breathtakingly beautiful architecture and design, sprawling grounds and various picture-perfect spots for enjoying a lemonade. Bliss.  On this visit alone, I spotted a handful of people reading their books/newspapers in the shade, families picnicking in the grounds and a few bloggers taking outfit photos with the palace as a backdrop.

Along with the landscape gardens directly behind Blenheim Palace, there's tons of other features within the grounds for anyone who appreciates nature, flowers or gardens (waves furiously).  One of my favourite features is undoubtedly the little rose garden found on the way to the waterfall.  Speaking of which, make sure you make time to wander down the hill to the waterfall, especially as it serves as a romantic backdrop to a bridge.  I can't help but think it'd make a beautiful spot for a proposal, or engagement photos - if anyone is thinking along those lines?!
