Okay, time to delve into the travel section of A Glass Of Ice. What other staycations have been ticked off the calendar this year? Quite a few, it would seem! If you're wondering where best to visit in 2018 to add to your list of British staycation adventures, be sure to leaf through some of the articles below for inspiration...

Needless to say, staycations fall into a different category to travelling abroad and so you don't need to ditch one in favour of the other. But one thing's for sure, if you're in need of slowing down a little, staycations have got you covered. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this luxury boutique hotel, as well as how you feel on the topic of staycations - do you find them comforting? Are you also an advocate of a slower pace of living? Let me know in the comments below!

You know, it’s really lovely to do staycations—I must do these more in the new year! Germany does indeed have some fantastic Christmas markets, in my opinion. :-) Wishing you good health and a marvellous holiday season, Gabrielle. xx/M
ReplyDeleteHope your health concerns resolve! Looks like such a nice hotel Gabrielle x

That huge velvet bed-head is the stuff of dreams! And I’m totally with you when it comes to slow living, I absolutely love having a weekend with not much booked because it means I can catch up on all the things that need doing and can just relax for a bit. Getting away somewhere locally isn’t something I do all that often, but it can be just as enjoyable as a trip anywhere else, and it’s generally cheaper and more relaxing since there’s less pressure to do a bunch of sightseeing and activities, etc. I’m sure Germany will be wonderful though, I’ve only been once years ago and I’m dying to go back!

I always love your staycation pictures, they are the definition of slow living! I love a staycation myself, although I love a break abroad staying in this country always feels a little more relaxed and actually like a break! I hope you're OK lovely and that your health concerns aren't too serious, take it easy,

I need to take a page from your book. I need to slow down, though staycations aren't really an option here. I live in a tiny, tiny town, with a single sketch motel. Maybe one day I'll experience that though! This post is lovely Gabrielle, and I hope you enjoy your travels. I always look forward to your German Christmas market photos!

everything looks so luxe! staycations can be the best!
ReplyDeleteLovely place!! I don't have any time at the moment but I usually love going away for the weekend and just take time off for myself :)

Staycations are a perfect compromise between the thrill of a trip and the comfort of home! I'm a firm believer in slowing down to promote good mental and physical health, and staycations can be a great re-energizer.

I adore staycations! We're so lucky to have the mountains only a couple of hours away, so we frequently head up there for a few days and it feels like we're completely disconnected from the crazy hustle and bustle of 'real life'. Honestly, staycations don't get nearly enough love! Even looking at these pictures made me feel more chilled out haha. Love it!

I definitely agree with you when it comes to getting more stuffs done by doing them slowly, I know I don't feel productive at all when I'm trying to do everything in a rush! I don't do a lot of staycation, but this is actually something I want to experiment more in 2018!
ReplyDeletehttp://fannyanddailybeauty.com
Staycations and city breaks are amazing to recharge in between traveling abroad. And you are so right about not rushing, you get as much done if you take your time, you´ll just feel better.

Oh that looks and sounds like a beautiful place to stay! :) I wanted to go away somewhere for Christmas but left it a little too late to arrange something so perhaps a staycation is in the cards for us! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely week! I'm getting excited it will be December this weekend! We are going to put up our tree then.

Wonderful that you're slowing down and traveling near home. I do love staycations, and this year I've done about three of them in nearby cities in Los Angeles. My favorite was in a small town called Santa Barbara, California. I used to travel there as a kid. It is a small beach town with little shops and restaurants all close to the water. The feel there is pure relaxationa and slow living for sure. You've inspired me to take another little trip soon!

Dude literally every time I visit your blog I'm always falling in love with your photographs! I genuinely can't process how you can make a photos of some stairs or something into something so aesthetically pleasing haha, if I tried to do it it'd look crap :')
ReplyDeleteI hope you're okay in regards to medical problems, but it seems as though you still subject yourself to some awesome experiences! I'm a massive advocate for slow living and staycations, you can take in so much more and they're just a lot better in regards to richness of experiences.

So true though, so important to take it easy to and unwind. Especially a good reminder with the hectic pace of Christmas and everything. And looks like you had a lovely stay, gorgeous photos! Xx

I am bad at going 0 to 100 in 2 seconds and I always feel like I need to rush which of course makes me a very high strung person. Hubby on the other hand is the opposite, he's very laid back and often reminds me to calm the heck down. LOL!

What a lovely post Gabrielle and an enjoyable read. It's so important to sit back and relax, and staycations such as this one in Norfolk seems like such a perfect way to unwind, especially with a warm comfort mug of your favourite drink.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy slow living, and one of the reasons I especially enjoyed Devon that's for sure.
This pretty homely boutique hotel looks like such a cosy place to visit surrounded by greenery and the sound of silence, one of the best sounds in the world sometimes :-)
Sending love, I do hope you're okay and that your health resumes soon dear Gabrielle!

ReplyDeleteI have so often the quote "If you are in a hurry, go slowly" in my mind and therefore I absoutely understand your thoughts! Altough I have to admit I don't belong to the slow people ... here I definitely still have potential :) But the hotel where you stayed is so extremely lovely that I would love to stay there for a slow weekend and even longer :)
