Patent leather, vinyl, metallic - all that shiny, shiny good stuff! It's back and (I'm very much hoping) it's here to stay. The days are darker, layers upon layers are hidden underneath each other and we go through stages of feeling that little bit less 'sparkly'. But there's a remedy! Fierce high-shine clothing and accessories can feel like a ray of sunshine on a (literal) dark day. My current obsession? Patent leather boots. They instantly transform an outfit and are totally on a level with the inner confidence that comes from wearing red lipstick...

The beauty of patent accessories in particular, is how they can work with the most casual of outfits. Alright, admittedly a calf-length military coat doesn't fly completely under the radar, but other simple wool coats and jumper dresses work just as well! Right now, I've got my eye on tons of drop dead gorgeous 3.1 Phillip Lim knitwear at Blue & Cream, in particular a few sportier-looking pieces that would look insane paired with patent stiletto boots. Also on my wishlist for pairing with patent leather boots, includes Anthropologie's Lila Skinny Leopard Coat (go big or go home) and a high neck maxi dress by YAS at Topshop (for complete contrast). Honestly, I could go on and on and ON. They work with so many different looks, and these Aldo beauties in particular are a dream to wear; tough as nails for the first 20 minutes and then they instantly mould to your feet like second skins, thanks to the material. So, now I'm a total patent boot convert - not that I put up much of a fight...
Psst! If you prefer edgier styling keep your eye out for these Aldo Loreni Boots featuring again soon on A Glass Of Ice!
With love,

These boots are gorgeous! But patent shoes are so out there, I would not wear them myself - although they do look great on you (and many other people I've seen wear similar shoes) and I can totally see why you'd compare them to that boost of confidence you get from wearing red lipstick!
