The Seasons Will Come & Go...

Black Short Sleeve Crop Top T-Shirt
Ooh, bit of an ambiguous title for a blog post.  But let's take it at face value for now - the seasons will come and go.  It's a comforting thought, right?  There's always a bit of a debate as a season comes to a close: those who are embracing the new season, ahead of time vs. Those who want to squeeze every last drop out of the current season.  There's no right way to 'do' a season, but if I had to choose a camp, it'd be the former.  I can't help but look forward to the months ahead and start to plan and anticipate what could be ahead.  It's exciting, because the opportunities seem endless when a little time separates the here and now from the then.  A lot can change as the seasons transition, y'know?  So, before we all start mourning the loss of summer, let's start getting excited about the season ahead! Autumn, we're ready for you...

Relaxation Month | 5 Subtle Ways To De-Stress Your Life

Luxury Dining Room Interior Lifestyle Blogger
It's my birthday!  You know what that means?  Cake.  Cake, cake and lots more cake.  But it also means I'm turning my attention to how I'd like the next year of my life to play out.  It's a fun process and one that usually helps open my eyes to just how much more life seems to improve with each and every passing year.  See, I told you it was a fun process!  Something I've been putting into practice this year is adding a sense of calm to my life.  We can get so caught up in working and rushing around at a hectic pace, that it's easy to lose track of our wellbeing - something I touched on briefly at the end of last year, when my health wasn't quite so fabulous.  So, with some help from The Grand York Hotel (a hotel super keen on providing comfort and relaxation) and a rather generous pamper hamper, I've been taking the time to both acknowledge August as the official Relaxation Month, as well as think of small, subtle and easy ways to help us all to de-stress over the next year of our lives...

Hotel Dukes' Palace | The Best Luxury Hotel in Brugge, Belgium

Prinsenhof 8 Hotel Dukes Palace Brugge Address
Surprise, Surprise, I'm going on about Brugge again!  Don't worry, I'm well aware the city has become an obsession of mine, and that includes accommodation.  For the past few years, Hotel Dukes' Palace has become my home away from home in the Belgian city and one that seems to get better and better with each and every visit.  From the private entrance leading to a warm welcome at the desk and box of chocolates in your room, to enjoying a drink on the sprawling patio before checking out - it's perfection.  Take it from someone who spends most of their spare moments planning the next visit to the historic city, this is the place to stay for luxury and comfort when in Brugge...

Why It's Time To Let Yourself Shine!

Black Embellished Floor Length Dress
Let's face it, opportunities to dress up in full-length embellished dresses are pretty few and far between.  Which means we tend to go all out when the occasion arises, right?  Above all else, this means the need to find the most perfect, flattering dress for our shape that leaves no room for regret once photos start emerging the next day.  We've all heard of the quote ''don't let anyone dull your sparkle'' and truer words have never been spoken when its comes to dressing for special occasions.  They're a chance to release all of your inner-child's fantasies of ball gowns and everything else Cinderella related.  Nope, I won't be letting you blend into the shadows.  It's time to shine and it always has been.

The Colonnade Hotel, London | Prezzybox

Little Venice London Luxury Hotel The Colonnade
If you were wondering whether it's possible to fancy a hotel, I can confirm that yes, it is possible.  A couple of weeks ago I was sent to The Colonnade Hotel by Prezzybox, a luxurious hotel located in Little Venice, London.  Speaking as someone with a special place in their heart for flamboyant decor, gold trimmings and quintessential English charm, The Colonnade Hotel was the perfect place to spend a couple of days.  The heatwave was still in full swing, I'd cleared my schedule in advance and I was more than a little ready to wind down and soak up the mass of beauty...

Are We Too Boujee For This?

Playing Table Tennis on UK Beach
Besides the obvious promotional and social functions of Twitter, I'm there for the laughs.  But last month I saw (and shared, obvs) a tweet that simultaneously made me laugh and wonder, just a little bit.  The kind of tweet that leaves you staring at your phone for a minute while you decide whether it's been a slap to the face or not...

After some umming and ahhing, I came to the conclusion it was just really, really funny, because I think I've been doing an alright job at separating those boujee tendencies of creating the perfect, curated moments, from having fun and incurring whatever not-so-Instagrammable states they may leave you in.  But it gets you thinking, right

For those of you wondering what the hell I'm going on about, 'boujee' is an abbreviation of 'bourgeois' and is a critical term used to describe people, things and places that are high-class.  It's the idea you're actively separating yourself from the more down-to-earth aspects of life in favour of being inauthentic and gentrified.  Eek, pretty heavy stuff.  But here's the thing, it's actually pretty easy to flick a switch and turn your back on wandering into that territory.  I mean, I love pampering treatments and indulgent shopping trips as much as the next person, but sometimes it can be so refreshing to dive headfirst into carefree activities without so much as a thought.

So, lately I've been challenging myself to just enjoy things without getting so caught up with whether or not it'll ruin my makeup or leave me sweating, limbs flailing in all directions.  On this occasion?  It was table tennis.  One hour of unadulterated fun, resulting in sore hands, burnt shoulders and a very sweaty back.  And you know what?  It was ridiculously fun.

Moral of the story?  Let your hair down.  You're young enough to be able to use some kind of tech to read this, so you're young enough to loosen your grip a little, let your guard down and enjoy some of those things that have become automatic no's over time.  Enjoy them. These kind of moments need your undivided attention; like taking advantage of playing table tennis with broken bats to an audience of strangers under the scorching sun, with the smell of a nearby BBQ, and sound of summer dance tunes.  Perfect.

It's always so interesting hearing your thoughts on topics like this; where do you think you stand on the scale of being too 'boujee' to let your hair down and have fun?  Let me know in the comments below.  Oh, and needless to say, these photos were taken before I started to resemble Niagara Falls.  The point is, you can have both!

Brugge, Belgium | 6 Reasons To Visit The City

Ice cream truck in the sunshine
Okay, so I think we're all aware now of just how crazy in love I am with Brugge.  It's a city filled with history and character; somewhere that leaves you pining for more come time to checkout of your hotel, and a place that doesn't allow you to walk for more than ten metres without calling for a photo opportunity.  Having now been one of my favourite European city break destinations for over six years, I figured it was time to put together a little guide to just why it's such a special place, and why you need to book a trip before the end of this year.  ASAP.
