Ooh, bit of an ambiguous title for a blog post. But let's take it at face value for now - the seasons will come and go. It's a comforting thought, right? There's always a bit of a debate as a season comes to a close: those who are embracing the new season, ahead of time vs. Those who want to squeeze every last drop out of the current season. There's no right way to 'do' a season, but if I had to choose a camp, it'd be the former. I can't help but look forward to the months ahead and start to plan and anticipate what could be ahead. It's exciting, because the opportunities seem endless when a little time separates the here and now from the then. A lot can change as the seasons transition, y'know? So, before we all start mourning the loss of summer, let's start getting excited about the season ahead! Autumn, we're ready for you...
Personally, I adore change. A new season is a fresh start, clean slate and chance to push forwards with a different mindset. I know, I know, you can do that at any time of the year - but it doesn't hurt to have the weather pushing you in a new direction as well, right? The move from Summer to Autumn is probably the most dramatic of the transitions and I'm so ready for it. Going by the general sounds across social media right now, I feel as though we're all looking into new ventures and projects - tell me if I'm wrong? So with the colder temperatures pushing us indoors (conveniently where all of the faux fur blankets and cinnamon-scented candles are), it's the perfect time to embrace some new challenges and get to work!

But don't worry, it isn't all work and no play. After a hectic and social summer season, Autumn can present a wonderful opportunity to slow the pace a little and start to appreciate more down time. A favourite element of mine is undoubtedly the return of chunky knit jumpers and knee-high boots; the kind of wardrobe refresh that feels perfect after a long, beautiful, scorching summer!

Oh, but let's not forget just how exciting the last quarter of the year can be! Hello October through to December; three months of unadulterated joy, celebrations and all things thrilling; ranging from cosy to glittering! So much happens at that time of year, which in a way makes September all the more special; it serves as a calm bridge to a hectic time ahead. And I can't wait.

Okay, so I've made my stance super clear with regard to the changing seasons - they're a chance to wipe the slate clean and move forwards with a fresh outlook. New weather, wardrobe and perspective. We can't stop the seasons from folding over into the next and so we may as well embrace with open arms! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the topic; let me know in the comments below...

Beautiful photos as always! I'm so ready for the knee high boots and ankle boots for fall, plus I love the festivities starting in late October: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the next thing you know it's Christmas!

Love the change of seasons - I am already anticipating comfort food, cosy clothes & open fires :-) Gorgeous pictures as always, Gabrielle!

As much as I love summer with so much sunshine and warm weather, Autumn is always the season I anticipate the most. Weird :D But Autumn fashion is always the most interesting and, as you said, it's time when I just chill, take it easy for couple of months before the hectic Christmas season runs me over.

Very aesthetically pleasing photos, my dear.😊 Very good! Unfortunately, I'm not as good-hearted as you are and don't like change so much. I guess change is a good practise of life and proves that nothing stays the same forever. I just find it hard to accept it, if you get what I mean(probably not but still😅). Btw, I liked the title of your blog, I didn't think it was ambiguous at all.
ReplyDeletePs: Thanks for your comment on my blog.😘

Hello Grabrielle
ReplyDeleteI still don't want to think that summer is ending, but I confess that I already bought some sneakers in animal print just like your adorable skirt. !!
I already realized from what I saw in stores that this is going to be the fall trend.
As always your photos and text are wonderful.

I'm so ready for change! You're so right that with the new season comes new motivation to embrace the shift, especially after such a gorgeous Summer. I've just watched Bridget Jones' Baby this afternoon and for the first time this year I've actually felt ready to start wearing oversized jumpers and sitting in cosy coffee shops as the festive seasons starts to roll around. Anyway, you look amazing as always!

Hun just like you are ready for Autumn...I am ready for spring hehe and I LOVE your leopard print skirt so much :) xx
ReplyDeletewww.fashionjazz.co.za
What a lovely outfit! You look stunning....and very fit! That is a gorgeous leopard skirt. I do like how you paired it with a cropped top. Such a great styling, very elegant and chic! It is a summer outfit, but it recalls autumn with its colours. Leopard is said to be on trend this autumn, but it is a great print for any season. Still, I'm mostly thinking of how to wear it in autumn, I guess I'm getting into the mood for the new season... it's a pretty good time to get excited about autumn, now that it is drawing closer with each day. You do have some good points, there is always something to look forward as a new season approaches...as you said, it can be a chance to start fresh.

I love the canal photography, as well as the leopard print and necklaces. I'm so ready for Autumn, it's my season. I also adore the chunky knits, oversized jumpers, boots, boots and more boots, fairy lights candles and all. I love it when the season changes, it's a great time to look forward to change. And of course party season! Cosy afternoons in, or in cafe's and cinemas too. Popcorn, hot chocolate. I could go on and on. I'd kill for your abs Gabrielle : ) xo

You are right about starting off new projects and creating a new, exciting mindset whenever seasons change, and I usually feel that way - this year is different though, and I feel torn between the summer and the upcoming autumn. Getting my wardrobe ready will definitely help though! Your leopard print dress is gorgeous. I really want to incorporate one leopard print piece in my wardrobe this autumn too - so wish me luck finding the right one!

ReplyDeleteI'm excited for the seasons changing, but as it's the end of winter today and spring tomorrow I'm just excited for the warmer weather, haha! It's nice to be able to have a bit of a wardrobe refresh just by changing the pieces you can pick from, as you don't have to go out and buy anything new! :)
I hope that you are having a wonderful week! :)

New seasons, bring some fresh opportunities. And this is defiantly a lovely post to begin. I really adore your outfit it is so stylish and perfect. Leopard print has to be my all time favourite print. It just goes with anything. I hope your enjoying the new season so far. :) http://www.bauchlefashion.com/2018/08/5-ways-to-style-leopard-print-for-fall.html
ReplyDeleteSee, out of the two I think I'm the latter - knowing a season is to come to a close I will 100% try and squeeze out every drop left of the previous season before heading into a new one! Would love to just try and be optimistic and look forward to it though haha.
ReplyDeleteI adore your outfit (that necklace😍), and this location looks suspiciously like the ten-minute walk from my old college - that takes me back and a half!
Have a great weekend :)

Spring and summer are my favorite seasons, there is no denying that, but I embrace the change. Summer wouldn't be so special if it lasted all year round after all. Once I am home from my current, very summery, holiday I will start making the transition and start planning a few new projects to address throughout the upcoming months.

I definitely agree with you Gabrielle, a new season feels like a new start and I love looking it as an opportunity to make a few changes! Weather wise, I'm definitely straddling summer and autumn, not sure if I can let the sunny days go but when it comes to fashion I am SO excited for big old jumpers and ankle boots!

Love your photos! I personally despise summer for its hot weather, so the seasons changing from summer to fall is one of the highlights I look forward to each year. Looking forward to being able to layer clothes as well, and of course the cozy afternoons about to come.

First, as always, THE ABS. Ugh, you kill it lady. And I absolutely adore the beginning of fall for the same reasons. Of course, the wardrobe (my absolute favorite way to dress), and the food (pumpkin all day every day). But even better than that is the energy boost I get from the crisp cool mornings and the incredible coloring changes everywhere. The new season gives me that oomph I need to get going again, and these next few months are just my absolute favorite of the year.
ReplyDeleteYAY fall! Can't wait to see what it brings this year!
