How To Wear The Heritage Trend | John Smedley

Sezincote House Fashion Blog Photoshoot
A buzz of excitement tends to circulate around this time of year, thanks to the introduction of new trends and the possibility of new styling options now that we can swap over to our cold-weather wardrobes.  Ooh, yes please!  Above all else, something that's caught my eye for Autumn is Heritage Style; a tried and tested trend that tends to come back each time more powerful.  Classic prints and materials built to stand the test of time, and look chic while doing so.  Corduroy, checks, tweeds and heritage fabrics.  The colour palette tends to be neutral and this year, seemingly with a focus on warmer tones.  And you know what?  That suits me just fine, because lately I've developed a newfound appreciation for warm tones; such as caramel, brown, camel and gold.  So, what better time of year to explore a new colour palette than Autumn, and when a trend so eagerly welcomes the shades?!  Time to get familiar with the Heritage trend...

Charlotte Tilbury | The Ultimate Skin-Perfecting Duo!

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer
Ah yes, a season change!  Beautiful in every single way... except on the skin.  My skin is not on its best behaviour right now and so as a result I've been doing a fair bit of damage control (think along the lines of: more sleep, less sugar and more water).  However, for those moments when I'm just really missing flawless summer skin, I've been playing around with some makeup options to save the day.  Then, along comes a dreamy package from Charlotte Tilbury, angels sing, confetti starts falling from the sky and I'm able to emerge outdoors again without flinching.  Say hello to two of Charlotte Tilbury's latest releases: Magic Away Liquid Concealer and Charlotte's Genius Magic Powder.  The ultimate skin-perfecting duo...

It was summer, you were wearing a bikini and wondering how many times you can listen to the same summer tunes before getting tired of them and bam! suddenly it's sort of, kind of Autumn.  Can we all  just agree that this new season has literally appeared out of nowhere?!  It's around about this time of year that we're bombarded with wishlists and wardrobe updates that encourage forking out your savings on an entirely new wardrobe.  But before you remortgage your home, take a peek at my following five suggestions that serve as quick updates to your wardrobe.  Needless to say, accessories are included, because I'm a firm believer that accessories are never so important as they are than in Autumn/Winter, when we're cocooned in layers upon layers of clothes!  Anyway, if I manage to save just one reader from selling a kidney to fund their new Autumn wardrobe, then I consider my work here done...

Slimmeria Retreat | Ilfracombe, Devon

Slimmeria Retreat Devon White Room Loungers
This week I found myself staying a while at the new Slimmeria retreat in Ilfracombe, Devon.  It's the latest addition to their growing collection of retreats, along with Hye House in East Sussex.  You may recognise the name from recent mentions in the press (including appearing on Channel 4 last night!), with a focus on the founder's crack-the-whip methods to help guests achieve their goals.  The luxury slimming, detox, spa and weight loss retreat offers a programme that may be too extreme for some due to its drastic measures, and equally may be ideal for others!  Personally, the time I spent at the retreat was with health, fitness and wellbeing in mind, rather than weight loss.  So, what do I make of the hilltop retreat?  And what were the highlights of the experience?!

Social Media Storm | Content Creating

Luxury Fashion Blogger Sofa Photoshoot
So, to give you a little background, over the past week there's been a huge social media storm over one rather lovely travel blogger's Instagram and whether or not it's promoting a positive and attainable message or not to her followers.  The images are beautiful, perfectly curated and nearly always featuring an excess of beauty; be it in the form of floral bouquets, balloons, chocolate or other sweet treats.  Predictably, the topic has exploded into a discussion of whether or not curated Instagram feeds are healthy for viewers or not, and it's divided the online community into two camps: those who agree and those who disagree.  Personally, I feel it's a case of 'live and let live', but there's so much more to discuss....
