Okay, so let's get one thing straight: all women are feminine. But only some of us are attracted to a fashion, an aesthetic, that is also feminine. That's not right, and that's not wrong. Admittedly, 'power dressing' is a strange term, and yet it truly does perfectly describe the goal at hand: to dress up in a way that says, 'I'm here, I'm confident and my intentions are powerful.' So, with all that said, if you also feel as though you can't concentrate unless you're wearing heels, read on for a few tips on how to power dress while still staying true to your personal, feminine style! Warning: don't read on if you don't have access to any kind of store right now, you will want to whip out your card details...

There are plenty of opportunities to play around with power dressing, with meetings being an obvious choice to get started! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the tips I've shared in this post; do you have any of your own to add? Let me know in the comments below!

My absolute favourite element of power dressing; finding ways of toning down the iron fist with the velvet glove. For this look, I've opted to add a gentle touch to the check blazer with a pussybow blouse and delicate gold accessories. Another option includes teaming high waisted jeans with fierce heels, or a statement blouse and blazer combo as I've done for this look; the low-key vibe of the denim is perfect for dressing up in other ways!

Of course I'm going to recommend you wear heels because I'm a diehard stiletto addict. However, it's all about what you feel more comfortable in; you're unlikely to stand tall and proud when you feel as though your knees are about to buckle underneath you, right? Right. Opt for towering block heels to get the best of both worlds: height and comfort

.... are your new best friends, along with any other shirt that offers something extra. My advice? Take a peek at Karen Millen for outfit-making shirts and blouses, or leaf through ASOS blouses for more affordable, frilly options

Oof, now this is a lesson I've only recently learnt. Better late than never! This vintage Aquascutum blazer has very quickly found its way into my heart (aka the special part of my wardrobe). A well-fitting and striking blazer can do wonders for your confidence, and therefore your route to power dressing. With the heritage trend going strong, there are plenty of blazers around right now, along with more flamboyant, embellished options appearing on the scene in the lead up to the festive season. Have fun with it!
Psst! Don't buy a blazer before figuring out which of your shirts/blouses will work with it!

Your blazer is beautiful! I love a blazer for helping me feel more confident and pulled together - even if I'm just wearing jeans! :) Sadly can't do the heels though - like you said I need to stick to something a little more comfortable!

Heels, heels, and heels! They make you feel like a beautiful confident woman, amp up the volume on any outfit and also check the box on not hiding that sex appeal.

For me a well fitting blazer is the key when it comes to power dressing. It's that central piece we can easily accessorize or add accents too. When I think of power dressing, I visualize classical cut suits completed with feminine details, such a romantic shirts (with bows or lovely prints). There are many ways to infuse femininity into our outfits while still looking put together and professional.
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is fantastic. That vintage blazer is a beauty...and I do like the boots and the black pants. Plus, that snake print bag is pretty adorable.

ReplyDeleteI wish I had the patience and pain-control level to wear heels haha, but my feet are so sensitive that even the smallest heels feel so painful after only a few hours. Luckily there are so many ways in power dressing, and I would say as long as you feel confident in what you are wearing, you're doing the right thing!
