5 Ways To Take Control Of 2019!

Flared Snakeskin Print Trosuers
Oof!  In every direction we look, we're being told of how today is Blue Monday; the most depressing day of the year.  Work?  Weather? Failed resolutions?  There's one million and one reasons as to why today has been dubbed Blue Monday... but let's not dwell on that. Instead, let's focus on how best we can push ourselves through these rainy ol' days to sunnier times ahead!  First and foremost, if you're anything like me and prefer the warmer months of the year, it's best to see these winter months as preparation for what's to come ahead.  Put in the hard work now, and play later...

Ugh.  I really need to work on this one.  The massive effects our sleep patterns can have on our lives is incredible.  You know it, I know it - we all know it!  So why don't we do something about it?

... and enjoy those savings in the summertime!  When the warm weather appears, so do the rooftop drinks, long distance adventures and social occasions.  There's so much to do, and by counting the pennies now, you can save for a time when you'll have an abundance of activities to enjoy come summer!

You know, the one you've been plotting and planning foreeeeever?  Now is the time to pay it your full attention during those evening hours and spare Sunday mornings.  Start now and you might just be seeing some rewards by summer...

Shock yourself and go full Marie Kondo on your life.  Your wardrobe, social circle, digital life etc.  You name it, you can declutter it!

Do I even need to explain this one?  Take control of your mental health by giving yourself a break to look forward to; a time to completely disconnect.  Ahh, bliss.

  1. You look amazing Gabrielle, I love this outfit! I think it's easy at this point in January to get disheartened if new year goals aren't quite falling into place yet, but it's a marathon not a sprint!

  11. Love this outfit - gorgeously fierce!
And great advice too - I have so many things on this year (a wedding! an application for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the Uk! A novel to finish!) I often feel like everything is out of my control. This is a nice reminder to get my act together and start doing what I do best - organise things!

  14. Ok first of all, your pants are incredible. Such a fun piece! And as for taking control of 2019, I love the points you've made. As I'm reading the book "Why We Sleep", I've really been putting more effort to get at least 8hrs/night, and protect that time at all costs, LOL. And yes to books. Always yes to books.

  29. I just got out a major debt of over $8K so saving is a major priority for me in 2019. I will be looking for more ways to keep that money in the bank where it belongs rather than splurging on purchases. And yes! I will have to work on the sleep schedule too! - https://jamilakyari.com

  30. I love the idea of using the cold winter months to prepare for the rest of the year! That's a really good way to look at it, instead of being stuck inside because of the cold. I really need to work on my sleep schedule too, and decluttering is something I've done recently and it feels so good to get rid of what I don't need. Thank you the new perspective on these winter months, and I love your outfit too!

  32. These are great tips for taking control of our life. Decluttering is definitely something I must do. Fixing my sleeping patterns is another. Booking a vacation...I don't even remember when was the last time I did that. Something always seems to come up, health or work problems. I really hope I manage to plan something this year because I really do need a vacation.

How gorgeous is this outfit. I absolutely love those pants on you. Gorgeous boots as well. The python bag goes so well with the pants. Such a gorgeous styling!!!

  33. I'm definitely the type to hibernate a bit during winter because I much prefer warmer weather, and I totally agree that it's a great time to be productive if you're inclined to have fewer things going on socially at this time of year. I often find I have more evenings free, especially during the week, and of course the spirit of the new year (and having a bit of time off around Christmas) usually leads to be a bit of decluttering too.
