Happy Afternoon Tea Week! To celebrate this fabulous week, I was invited over to the luxurious Belmond Cadogan Hotel to experience their Matthew Williamson themed afternoon tea, showcasing the new luxury loose leaf teas from Newby Teas. Having indulged in many an afternoon tea in my time (I'm British, after all), I thought I couldn't possibly discover a more luxurious afternoon tea in London. I was wrong. Located close to Knightsbridge and in the heart of Chelsea, the five-star hotel offers the afternoon tea in their lounge area; an intimate space filled with natural light and warm tones. Seated by the window and with a glass of champagne immediately placed in my hand, I prepared myself for the artistic afternoon tea that was soon to follow...
The Lounge waiters are incredibly attentive and go a long way in explaining the intricacies of the menu and everything to do with the themed afternoon tea. While soaking up the atmosphere, egg-shaped starters topped with truffle shavings were brought over, and shortly after... the spectacular Matthew Williamson themed display of treats were placed on the table. Now, we all know my love for metallic tones by now and so you can imagine my delight at the sight of this gold-tone tree construction used to display the afternoon tea bites. Yum!

So, in honour of afternoon tea week, Adam Handling's restaurant at Belmond Cadogan Hotel offers guests a breathtakingly beautiful (and tasty!) Matthew Williamson afternoon tea. Newby Teas are showcasing their three new luxury loose leaf teas: Maharaja's Breakfast, Exotic Earl Grey and Jasmine Rose Garden. I opted for the latter and enjoyed a feminine taste instantly transporting me to English gardens. The good news? If you can't make it to Belmond Cadogan to enjoy Newby Teas' new flavours at the Adam Handling restaurant, you can always shop the caddies individually or as a beautifully packaged trio! Yay!

This themed afternoon tea is filled with surprises, such as the exclusive collection of pastries complementing the three new flavours from Newby Teas; one of which is the opulent salted caramel sacher with milk chocolate chantilly. Mmm, heaven in dessert form. And then, just when you think you couldn't possibly be provided with more treats, freshly-baked scones with jam and fresh clotted cream are presented in a wooden box. Perfect for enjoying with those last few sips of tea...
I absolutely adored this afternoon tea and can quite confidently declare this my new favourite location for an indulgent afternoon tea in London! Afternoon tea week ends tomorrow and so make sure to get yourself booked in somewhere for a luxurious one ASAP, ladies and gents. Do you like the look of this themed afternoon tea? When was the last time you enjoyed an afternoon tea? Let me know in the comments below!

Away From Blue
This is the SECOND post this week that I've read about afternoon tea spots; I think the universe may be trying to tell me something :') Especially since I've been wanting to try proper British teatime for years and years. There's a gorgeous spot in Anaheim that is totally authentic & is actually where Meghan Markle went to learn how to take tea with the queen! I'm determined to go back there and have tea myself.

I want to live in that lounge and drink afternoon tea forever!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, but we Mexicans love drinking tea (thanks to our indigenous ancestors) but we use it for more health / medicinal purposes rather than leisure. I myself haven't had an afternoon tea since April so I think it's about time for one today!
Which tea do you recommend for a summer afternoon?

Ooh, well I'm completely addicted to afternoon teas but I'm fairly new to the 'teas' themselves! Having tried Jasmine Rose Garden by Newby Teas, I can definitely vouch for that one out of those shown in this post :) Hope that helps!

What a beautiful setting and I like the addition of the champagne to an afternoon tea. The scones and other treats look delicious and you look fabulous in that gorgeous top and the flared jeans! I love that the restaurant owner's Mom knitted tea cozies - what a wonderfully personal touch!

Everything about that afternoon tea looks yummy and beautiful! I love the attention to details, especially the cute little knitted teapot covers. And the three new teas sound so good! I wish afternoon tea was a thing here in the US.

I haven't had the English Afternoon Tea experience and I will definitely try it one day. It sounds like the perfect thing to try when you need to unwind or feeling down. For some reason, it reminds me of those pamper sessions at the spa. Haha.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just love those luxurious details at the hotel!

I wish tea was more of a thing here in the States because I LOVE it! So much so that I had my baby shower (with my first) with an English Tea theme. It's so classy and of course, delicious! Everything looks great and I also love that top you're wearing!
