Let's get one thing straight: I'm British. This means, that along with droning on about the weather on a daily basis, it also guarantees an unquenchable thirst for afternoon teas. I like to think I'm fairly cosmopolitan, but sure, when it comes to afternoon teas I definitely fit the cliché of scone-loving Brits . Oops. With this in mind, it goes without saying I've enjoyed my fair share of them over the years. However, I was yet to tick Afternoon Tea at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire off my pretty little list! This all changed on one rainy afternoon, thanks to an invitation to enjoy the creme de la creme of afternoon teas at this beautiful, well-known five star location...
This wasn't my first visit to the luxury hotel, having previously tried (and adored) various activities including clay pigeon shooting and horse riding! However, this was my first time spending some time in the library; a comfortable and calm space just as well-suited to catching up with friends over afternoon tea, as it is working solo through some emails. Thankfully, my afternoon didn't involve the latter and instead saw an afternoon tea for two brought to the table and explained in great detail by our waiter. The sandwiches included traditional British options (hello cucumber and dill cream cheese), alongside more unusual combination - including a caviar dressing.

The clock strikes 1:23pm (ahem, according to the image below) and it's time to tuck into the array of small pastries and sweet treats. The layered White Chocolate and Cranberry Victoria Sponge was my favourite selection, alongside the Caramel Choux with Apple Compote. Although, I'm always careful not to indulge too much because your girl loves scones and needs to save room for them - and especially when they're served with zesty lemon curd. Yum!
The generous platters were enjoyed at a veeeeery leisurely pace, thanks to the absence of a time limit. Of course, you'll need to book a time for your afternoon tea as with most venues, however there's no 'end time' as with some locations. Phew! Always a relief, because once you get me talking there's just no stopping me. Having said that, you definitely won't want to be talking if you book a date when Lewis Bolland is playing live at the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire! On selected dates this Autumn, the artist will be travelling to the luxury hotel to contribute to the soothing ambience...
Once again, I've come away from the restored Georgian manor house with a smile on my face! For those of you based in London, you'll be interested to know you can reach Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire within just one hour from the capital, and within thirty-five minutes from Heathrow Airport. Would you like to enjoy an afternoon tea at this hotel? Let me know in the comments below!
