Ten days until Christmas Day! In my opinion, this truly is the best time of year. I'd love to hear about how intense the celebrations are in your country, but in the UK we tend to go aaaall in. I'm talking about massive shop front festive displays (hello Cartier), themed food, Christmas music playing through every speaker, glitter-infused outfits and more events than you can possibly imagine. I love everything about it. But above all else, I love how it brings everyone together for a similar reason - to celebrate. I've spoken before about why we should celebrate everything and anything and I still totally stand by that concept. There's just one problem: you can't be everywhere at once. But if you're anything like me, you'll sure as hell try...
I've undoubtedly overcommitted this year and have ended up with a pretty nasty cold. If you've found yourself in a similar situation, I'd recommend taking a leaf out of my book and creating a list of priorities for the next couple of weeks. What can realistically be moved to the New Year? Can anything be outsourced? If possible, schedule a day to spend entirely by yourself. Slip into your cosiest loungewear and indulge in Christmas movies - and don't feel guilty about it. So basically, this somewhat resembles the most frustrating doctor's advice of all time: rest up. Admittedly, this time of year can become pretty demanding and yes, overwhelming. However, the important thing is not to lose sight of how special the festive season can be; it flies by so quickly and you'll regret indulging in all of those small, comforting traditions you associate with Christmas and yet haven't had time to experience. Enjoy it!
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic! I adore the festive season and yet can feel as though I'm pulled in all directions with so many commitments - how about you? Let me know in the comments below!

I'm defeintly guilty of trying to do to much this time of year and end up feeling worn out and often ill as a result. I think the best thing you can do is block out some days in your calendar to just chill at home and recharge! also love this organza blouse Gabrielle xx

I think end of a year is a great reminder of where we stand in life. But on the other hand it's just another day, and we could have choose any other deadline for all our commitments as well. It's sure great to achieve as much as possible before, but also not to stress over everything we wouldn't.

Oh I love the top you are wearing girl!

What a gorgeous blouse you are wearing! I need to find something similar for myself - and maybe with some pearls sewn into it...
ReplyDeleteAs for festive fatigue, I totally get it! It's such a busy time that we tend to stretch ourselves too thin trying to do it all. Spending a home day doing the bare minimum is a great idea, a reward for accomplishing so much at the end of another busy year!

That blouse is beautiful on you! What a fantastic shimmery piece! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's important to relax and enjoy Christmas - there are so many fun things around and we are trying to take the boys to as much as possible! I've already bought and wrapped all the presents so we have nothing to do but relax and enjoy time with family and friends :) I love having everything organised so we dont' feel we are stretched to thin doing all the fun things!
Hope that you had a great weekend :) We went to the movies and another Christmas party.

These are great tips. I think so many people overwork themselves during the holidays, forgetting that we all need rest. Good organization is always important and preparing in advance certainly helps with the stress.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic in this. That blouse is so romantic, love it.

Setting aside time to actually enjoy this season is so important! It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle that comes with Christmas--& think you're celebrating the festivities--when you're just getting burned out. Loved this! x

These are really great tips. I am just ready for the Christmas break at the end of this week, so I can chill out. It's been raining here a lot and it's made me very tired. I love this organza top, I've had my eye on it for a while now, gorgeous on you :) x
