Phew! Prepare yourself for a whole lot of imagery. With the start of a new year, we can tend to throw ourselves into new challenges, right? Well, to avoid burnout, at the end of last month I headed towards Northamptonshire to Rushton Hall Hotel & Spa for a short break away. It was cold, crisp and sunny; the perfect combination. Though above all else, it was beautiful. There's nothing quite so relaxing as being surrounded by beauty and comfort. I'd heard a fair bit about the spacious lounge area downstairs and so headed there to take refuge from the cold outside before seeing my room. The clashing prints, patterns and colours are a British countryside delight! For some reason, I've always found working from hotel lounges kind of exciting. No? Just me? Okay, enough chit-chat. Let's head upstairs to the bedroom!
I emerged from the lift and headed to my state room - chosen specifically for its calming, champagne-nude interior design. The state room was just as feminine as I'd hoped; a space filled with brocade prints, metallic embellishments and soft plush touches. With a glass of champagne in hand, it was time to unpack my suitcase and reveal some of my favourite pieces to have recently entered my wardrobe - though, of course, not before taking a soak in the ensuite's free standing bath first! Please do not disturb...
A favourite new addition to my wardrobe of late has been this light pink Bonsoir of London Jacquard Gown (gifted). The soft cotton is ideal for slipping into once you've stepped out of the bath and the shawl collar and woven satin herringbone design are the perfect finishing touches to a chic loungewear look. I've paired the style here with Moda in Pelle's Softie Cream Sheepskin Slippers (gifted). It's true what they say: you don't know what you're missing until it arrives. These slip-on flat slippers are like hugs for the feet and have quickly become my paw-protectors from day to night. Speaking of night, say hello to what are quite possibly the most gorgeous boots I've ever owned: Steve Madden Winner Boots (gifted). They're loud and proud via heavy embellishment and clashing animal prints that instantly bring out your inner sass. Steve Madden have now launched their first store in the UK, however you can also shop their new Spring collection online... now!

As the sun began to set in Northamptonshire, the room filled with a golden glow; emphasised by the warm tones of the room. This is exactly what I need - what we all need - every once in a while. By removing the distractions around us we're so used to giving our attention, it allows us to completely clear our minds and focus on the present. Bliss.

After a beautiful night's sleep, I awoke to the sound of room service arriving at the door. I'll admit, usually I'm pretty reactive with this and find myself leaping up with confusion. However, this time, I had all the time in the world and had positioned the chairs the night beforehand to look out over the sprawling grounds through the windows. The scene was set; all that remained was to tuck into some tasty toast with preserves!
Ah, parting is always the hardest part. Sadly, after a night of total relaxation, it was time to kiss goodbye to one of the most beautiful hotel rooms I'd ever had the pleasure of staying in. I've often spoken here on A Glass Of Ice about just how important I consider colours to be with regard to creating an atmosphere. With this in mind, the cream decor did a faaabulous job at relaxing the senses throughout my visit. I left feeling so refreshed and ready to hit the ground running upon my return to London!
I absolutely adore writing up travel and hotel content and so I truly hope you've enjoyed this read. I'd love to hear where your most recent trip away has been? Or perhaps you have a weekend break coming up? Let me know in the comments below!

This is not a hotel, it's a princess palace! What a dream room you've stayed in. It makes you want to stay inside all day instead of exploring outside! Northamptonshire I think has some really pretty estates with hotels like this one, and they don't necessarily get much press because of the area they're located in - but this shows us there are great reasons to visit the county!
