I get it. The place you're usually thrilled to find yourself, has now become the place you have to be. It's not a choice - and nobody likes to have the power of choice taken away from them. However, there's no fighting the lockdown. It's happened, it's happening and now we're all at home during daylight hours, as well as evenings. It's now up to us as individuals to deal with the circumstances as best as we can. Sadly, I can't wave a magic wand and solve the world's problems, however I can help you feel more comfortable at home during the day by suggesting just a few tweaks to your surroundings. Take it from someone who has worked remotely for the past couple of years. They've helped me, and with all of my heart I hope they can help you too...
It's unusual for us all to be required to spend so much time indoors and so I'd love to hear if you have any other tips for feeling more comfortable at home during the day? Let me know in the comments below!

If you don't feel like listening to music during the day, try turning on the TV in a different room to a channel you're not particularly interested in. The company will be comforting, without distracting you from your work

Ditch the thin cotton socks for fluffy socks. Similar to how a weighted blanket can help those with anxiety to sleep, fluffy socks can go a (surprisingly) long way to help make you feel at home in your home. A very small and very simple 1%

Avoid working in the same space you eat. Sleeping in the same place you work. Eating in the same pla- you get the idea. This can help you compartmentalise and detach one task from another!

Everyone has a different stance on this with regard to working from home. Although, the general consensus seems to be business on top and comfortable down below. Personally, I tend to wear 'pretty' loungewear from home that can also pass for Zoom meetings - however, this depends entirely on your line of work. If loungewear isn't something you can get away with during the day, make it something to truly look forward to once you clock off! The latest addition to my loungewear wardrobe has been this delicate blush pink Bonsoir of London Ella Pyjama Set

If you haven't yet 'made a house a home', now is the time. Consider framed prints for a cost-effective way of filling negative space on your walls. Pick up some fresh flowers next time you're on your food shop and position them somewhere close to where you spend the most time. Finally, look at your lighting with fresh eyes. Is your home bright enough? Are your bulbs too bright? Lighting has a fabulous way of transforming your environment and so it's more than worth looking at with fresh eyes while you're spending so much time at home!

These are excellent tips, and you're so right - the place I'd usually be over the moon to spend time in is the place I now have to be. Really like the idea of background noise, and fluffy socks - game changer!

I love all the tips mentioned above and this cute pink lounge wear set, so cute I love the lace detailing too. I always have background noise from the telly when working, I too find it comforting in having that extra sound in the house. Flowers and the additional scented candles here and there always add to a positive mood too. Stay safe Gabrielle : ) xo
