Ah, the driving loafer. Still the most under-appreciated shoe during summertime and yet still one of the most elegant silhouettes of all time. Why do we not associate this stylish silhouette with the summer months?! As much as I wish summer had the tendency to deliver scorching hot sunshine from beginning to end, it's simply not the case. Instead, we have bursts of St Tropez in between bouts of Edinburgh (sorry guys). With this in mind, sandals aren't a viable option every day. I'll admit, I've been loving adding stylish sneakers to my shoedrobe of late, however they still pose a frustrating problem: laces. And this, ladies and gents, is where driving loafers enter stage left and ready to steal the spotlight...
There's something very stylish about a pair of driving loafers and especially when they're in suede. With this in mind, they're ideal for those brighter days when rain isn't forecast, but bumping into people you know absolutely is - happy you didn't throw on those old Adidas sneakers now? Personally, I own a few pairs of Hugs & Co suede driving loafers now and each of them tend to be worn when running errands around the city. They're my go-to for everyday wear that promises to be comfortable while still looking stylish! Let's face it, during the summertime we tend to stay out for longer and so comfort really is a must. A really sweet way to style driving loafers for summer is by pairing them with a dress; preferably of a short length to add a feminine touch to the outfit. This broderie anglaise wrap dress is perfect for exactly that reason. However, slim-fitting cropped trousers are also a lovely option, especially when paired with linen tops, or ruffled loose-fitting blouses. If you're wanting to ensure a feminine touch and flattering balance, try to avoid styling them with jeans, or anything too loose-fitting on the lower half.

You look so pretty and ethereal in your white dress. Your mint driving loafers are adorable. This is such a sweet summer styling. The photos are so lovely as well. Wonderful locations. A great look for sure.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question- Yes, I do have a pair of beige driving loafers and I have worn them often this spring. I'll probably wear them often this summer as well. They are a simple and comfortable choice. I often wear them for driving, I sometimes bring them to car with me. If I wear other shoes, I tend to slip into them for driving. I didn't even know they were called driving loafers, though. I just called them moccasins. I googled the term and discovered that driving loafers are basically moccasins with a rubber sole to make driving easier. How fascinating. I didn't even know that.
I agree with what you said. They are very comfortable but look more chic and presentable than a pair of sneakers. They can work well for meeting and semi formal occasions.
That place is so perfect, look like from fairy tale and you perfectly fit there with you beautiful dress.
