Understand me when I say that I know it's not a quick and easy task, but that's the beauty of it! You don't have to shoot for perfection, or a bestseller - in fact, you're under no obligation to ever show the world your words.

It's your project, entirely your own. In a world where collaboration is key, this project is entirely your own. From beginning to end, it's your baby.

Everyone has a different interpretation of mindfulness, however I truly consider writing a book to be a form of this. Your mind has no choice but to follows where you lead. Should you wish, it can serve as a form of beautiful escapism.

You could argue I already lead quite a creative life; seeing my schedule involve copywriting by day and creating digital content by night with acting classes slotted in between. However, I've still been in need of something where no other opinions enter the mix than my own. Writing a book can be a blissful creative outlet to allow you to consider, write and express whatever comes to mind - without judgement.

I can't wait to read it- once your book is finished. You're great with words so I'm sure anything you write would be an interesting read. How fun you're also taking acting classes, I didn't know that. You can never have enough creative interests and hobbies. The more creative work you do, the more creative you become. To answer your question- Yes, I wrote a book (a collection of short stories) and published in on Amazon in a kindle version a few years ago. As far as I know, I didn't sell a single copy but that doesn't bother me and I don't regret writing it. I say if you want to do something- just for it. Thinking about doing sth is a form of procrastination as they say- and the worst enemy of productivity. Doing something is always better than thinking about doing something. Sometimes we also need to think about HOW to do something but that is part of the process and it is not the same as wondering SHOULD we do something which is basically procrastination. Just do it, as Nike ad says. When I was a younger I used to second guess myself a lot, but I almost never do it nowadays and as a result I'm much more productive. Great outfit and photos. That copy of Sherlock Holmes is lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, definitely! I think books are great on so many levels, both as a reader and writer. Love the idea of turning your thoughts into words and have that creative outlet. Going to be really exciting to one day read your book(s) ;). And oh my, your boots are incredibly chic. Love how you styled them! Xx

What a lovely neutral outfit! that coat looks so good on you! Good luck with your book writing! I wrote a book about pregnancy style for the blog once - it was fun although a bit of a process to get it edited - I'm not the best writer and the editor had to make quite a few tweaks I will always be grateful for, haha! It's just an online thing, not a proper book, but I enjoyed having a little bit extra creativity and it made me proud! :)
ReplyDeleteHope that your week is off to a good start :)

There was a time that I really wanted to write a book and even made a few attempts but nowadays it's something that I would struggle to find time for. It's definitely a fantastic way to express creativity. It must be super excited for you! xx

This is so fitting considering I actually started writing a book over the course of November due to NaNoWriMo! After wanting to do so for years, but always being afraid of actually following through, I felt so proud of myself for actually making that happen this year. I definitely did not finish in 30 days haha, but I'm hoping to finish the story before the year is up, or at least keep writing it until I'm done :')
ReplyDeleteLoved the fit by the way, such lovely neutral tones, and it looks so cosy and classy for this time of year x

I loved reading this post. I've been reading so much in the last year and a half and I've loved writing stories since a child but i've definitely dropped off the fiction writing since blogging. I need to get back into that this christmas break. x

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI really liked the neutral tones of your outfit, surely a wonderful selection! I have long been meaning to write, whether it would be poetry or short stories. Maybe your post was all I needed to try out the concept of writing a book! Also, seeing the complete collection of Sherlock Holmes made me feel the need to give my Sherlock Holmes collection another read. Wonderful post, thanks for sharing!
